Lets see. All the the scandals we had those two years:
(which by the way also qualify as the greatest era as far as great boxing wars)

The deaths of Salvador Sanchez, Duk Koo Kim and Kiko Bejines

And apart from the deaths we had:
Holmes-Cooney and the racial overtone this fight had
Holmes-Cobb when Howard Cossell denounced the sport and quit after the fight
    Pryor-Arguello I and the bottle
Weaver-Dokes 1 and the premature stoppage
Collins Jr.-Resto and the removed padding
Holmes-Frazier: Marvis Frazier getting a shot at the linear heavyweight title with only 10 fights
Tokashiki-Madera 2 and 3, with Tokashiki getting a controversail draw the second time and then they colliding heads to end the bout the third time and Madera getting the title..
    Aaron Pryor's divorce
Lupe Pintor almost joining Salvador Sanchez in the list of Mexicans who died in vehicular accidents when he crashed his motorcycle in Mexico.
El Chapo reinjuring his hand during his first fight with Ramirez and sidelining himself for 10 months.
    Rosario-Ramirez 1: controversial decision.

It seems there was a controversy or a scandal every ten days back in those years..the courts were even involved in a number of these cases...what do you think?

...then there was Frank "Rootin' Tootin'" Newton getting robbed against Charlie "White Lightning" Brown in 1983...

Brown was a good boxer but he was also TV gold.

With his fighting style and teen-idol looks, he attracted both boxing fans and young girls alike.

There is a list of boxers who could both be on the covers of Ring Magazine and Tiger Beat, and those include:
    De La Hoya
    Ali-the 60s version
    Duran-the 70s version
    Leonard
    Sean O Grady
    Ray Mancini
    Bobby Chacon
    Harry Arroyo
the 70s version of Wilfred Benitez
    Monzon
    Macho Camacho Sr.

You could arguably also include Bazooka Limon in that list. He may not have been David Cassidy, but he was semi-handsome also.

And Charlies "White Lightning" Brown belonged there...

What upsets me is that Charlie “White Lightning” Brown never fought Charlie “Choo Choo” Brown.

Let Peppermint Patty referee with Linus, Lucy and Snoopy as judges.

I think that most boxers look at least pretty handsome. The body does well if you keep yourself in shape.

Well we’re not talking about 1982-83 but you opened the door by saying “most boxers look at least pretty handsome” … Tony Galento says “Hey!” :D

Weaver wasn't to bad when he shaved.

And Carnera looked pretty handsome in colored footage. I remember someone posting one of those uploads with colorized video and Primo looked nice.

Not quite the same but sometime in I think the 1990s either Tuesday Night Fights on USA Network or ESPN’s show (maybe they were Fridays in those days) fell on St. Patrick’s Day.

I think the show was in Boston maybe, but they had every fighter in either green trunks with white trim or white trunks with green trim, and no matter the ethnicity or name of the fighter, everyone was introduced in the ring as ‘Irish’ (fill in name here) — black, white, Latino, whatever.

It was pretty funny and very fun. I’m thinking it was Tuesday Night Fights because I seem to remember Sean O’Grady making a few quips.

You can bet I was watching — March 17 is my birthday!

That’s where my username comes from: my real name isn’t Patrick nor am I any percent Irish afaik … but when you’re born on St. Patrick’s Day you’re accepted as full-blooded Irish one day a year, haha.

(I am also, for sure, not a saint.)
