    Who, how and why?

(ed.s note: Im fairly suspicious who'd win but in boxing-rabid Puerto Rico, this would have been a huge social event!)

I thought Mancini would easily bulldoze him,but serrano's record...
He brought Ernesto Marcel into a SD,drew and won vs Hawaiian punch Ben Villaflor, had a win vs Yasutsune Uehara, had two decent, respectable win vs Echegeray and Leonel Hernandez.

This fight will be tough for boom boom.

Boom Boom lowers the boom in five rounds or less.

Problem here is Sammy was a 130-pounder and only had like one true fight at lightweight — against an 0-1 guy no less — in his career (if you put aside his short comeback 12 years after retiring, by which time he was a welterweight).

Ray was absolutely a true 135-pounder and a strong one at that. He was also super well-conditioned.

We saw what Mancini did against a natural junior lightweight when Bobby Chacon stepped up to face him, and it wasn’t pretty. Now while Sammy was much slicker and harder to hit than the Schoolboy, he did not have the firepower that Bobby did … and Chacón’s offense did absolutely nothing to dissuade Ray nor keep him honest.

I figure Serrano can get through the first three rounds using every trick in his book to keep from getting into a firefight, but at some point the pace and Mancini’s natural strength begins to take a toll (even if Ray’s having trouble finding his head, he will invest heavily in his body attack and there’s not much Sammy can do to avoid that).

Then Mancini shows him what it means to fight a lightweight with more firepower. Simply put, he’s too much. Nothing against Serrano, but 135 is a bridge too far here. Maybe if he picked the right lightweight he could box his way to a decision, but not Boom Boom.

Mancini......by stoppage...because he's too big and strong in this one....and aggressive too.
