You would not be able to completely disregard his record at light heavyweight.
You can't disregard Holmes's age either.
Yes, albeit a belt holder, who lost most of the big ones.
So in other words his best work would be two losing efforts, and wins over a couple of former cruiserweights, who were not relevant to the heavyweight division on fight night.
In other words if you take away Joshua, his crowning accomplishment's would be a losing effort, and a win over a faded Areola.
Sanders destroyed former and future cruiserweight titlists. Cold logic dictates that he’d take Spinks’ head off in a round, and it’s so likey that I think you even agree with me on that.
I don't think that beating those men, is any guarantee that he would beat Spinks.
Either way, it leaves him very very thin of good wins, outside of beating Wlad.
Sort of like Spinks at heavyweight minus Holmes, except Spinks has a thinner resume.
I see Fury's weird/awkward style being the main source of extreme headache for Larry. I don't think Fury would do too good once Holmes starts landing the overhand right...Fury would be perfect for that punch imo, and I see him getting staggered badly toward the final rounds.
Fury wasn't a big enough puncher to bother Holmes too much, though I'm first to recall Mr. Snipes (wasn't exactly a super puncher either).
I just don't see Fury having a significant impact on Larry, besides weirding him out a lot.
I've always thought Fury was overrated. I've seen so many people say how Fury is the H2H goat while simultaneously claiming Wilder is absolutely terrible and has nothing outside of his power.... yet he dropped Wilder four times and came dangerously close to a stoppage on at least three different occasions, and gave him hell in two out of three fights..... I'm no mathematician but something doesn't add up here.
Wilder was known as the bum killer, and thought of as a bit of joke with a very padded record. Now because he was somewhat competitive with Fury, hes considered one of the most dangerous Heavyweights of all time.
Like you said something doesn't add up, did we slightly underrate Wilder ? Me personally never thought much of him outside of his right hand, or is Fury just not the H2H Goat that people claim.
Vitali is the only one I'd give a chance
There are two flaws with that argument.
1. Spinks was a great light heavyweight, and probably a great pound for pound fighter, before he even set foot in the ring against Holmes.
2. Holmes was by then old enough, that you can write it off wit the age card.
How did that work for Bob Foster?
And you can write off Vitali’s loses on injuries, Wlad’s on inexperience or old age, Tyson’s on lost focus, etc.
eh, he just throws one twos over and over again, the right uppercut to the stomach but never sits down on it, and to a lesser extent some big wild hooks, he gassed terribly against Norton, and while I think he would have gone on to beat Shavers regardless in their second fight it was pretty close and might have been a premature stoppage, beat parkinsons and thyroid medication Ali, and went the distance with Berbick
Tyson still smokes him, I can see Holyfield dominating on points especially once Holmes starts to gas, Lewis and Bowe could be good close fights but Holmes loses to at least one of them
Holmes dominated Shavers in their 2nd fight, and gave him a pounding outside of one bad moment in the 7th round. The fight was not close nor a premature stoppage, so not quite sure what your on about there.
And a prime Holyfield lost 4-5 rounds to a 42 year old Larry Holmes, so i fail to see how Holyfield would "dominate on points" vs a prime Holmes. Again not quite sure what your on about there either.
12 rounds or 15 rounds? Holyfield didn’t look that impressive against a old Larry. I thought he dominated Berbick but yes it did go the distance.
Tyson could be a problem but if Larry can get to the mid rounds I think he takes the fight. Lewis and Bowe could be tough for Larry but I think he prevails. I think Lewis would be a tough fight!
