1985 Tony Tubbs vs. 2010 Vitali Klitschko

My heart says tubbs, my brain says vitali by tko. Too big, too strong, good chin, he has skill, hitting power...
Tubbs 85´ was a very good boxer, simply i think that vitali would destroy him

 

Tubbs would win, much better boxer and a hell of lot faster than anybody Vitilai fought. It would look like the corrie sanders fight a little but Tubbs is better than Sanders so he would be hitting Klits a lot more. Lets not forget a past prime Tubbs outboxed a young Riddick Bowe and should of won that fight.

 

Don't go there. They'll roast you alive in these parts (even tho you are correct).

Still, Tubbs was hot and cold and had little pop. Vit keeps him at distance for the most part. Tubbs lands some shots but to little effect. Vit's got a pretty solid beard. Tubbs corner shows mercy and stops this late with Tubbs way behind on the cards.

 

Didn't Tubbs spar with the brothers years ago, supposedly doing very well?

Tubbs looked very good in 1985 against Page when he was a well tuned 229 pounds, but his dedication lasted for one goddamn fight....... Tubbs stunk in Jan. 1986 at 244 grossly pounds when he blew the title to Tim Spoon... Tubbs was also a porker in 1988 against Tyson when he was 238 pounds, as well...

Tubbs and Douglas had some of the better skills to box in the 1980s, however, both were often lazy and too heavy in weight to execute at all times... Plus, both Tubbs and Douglas owned china chins, or at least shaky beards... Peace...

Although Tubbs had "marginally" better boxing skills than either of the Klitschcko brothers, they were not pronounced enough to overcome the vast differences in size and athleticism... Vitali Klitschko had enough reach and power to make Tubbs respect him, even at the age of 39, and Tubbs was not the type to take chances to enforce his presents.

A 1985 Tubbs might have had enough to go the distance against an ancient Vitali, but I doubt he'd come up with the win....

 

People picking Vitali by KO don't appear to be thinking it through.

Guys like Kevin Johnson and Shannon Briggs are going the distance with him these days. Hell, a guy like Sosnowski made it to the tenth! A guy like Tubbs who was one of the best defensive artists of the generation is going to get stopped though? Doubt it.

Whatever happens, it's going the distance. I'd favor Tubbs if he's at his best.
