This content is protected Just uploaded this to YouTube having had it translated with English subtitles. It’s a documentary on Eder Jofre and his family looks like from the late 1970s. It’s my friends YouTube channel. It would be great if you could subscribe. Occasionally put fights up. Trying to get enough subscribers to get a free 12 pack a beer a month haha
Subscribed and liked. Actually some great original content here instead of another shitty heavyweight thread. Will try and watch this tomorrow. Thanks @ChrisJS.
Somewhere in the Brazilian TV archives lurks Jorfre footage we have not seen...I hope. Sadly most of the people who saw Jofre fight are gone, and his nearly forgotten in his home country. I once chatted with a Brazilian sports historian who had his one website on Brazilian sports stars. His reply was something like; I have not been asked a Jorfe question in many years. Jofre is the best living bantam, and probably one of the top 3 ever and this is how he is remembered in his native land? Sad.
I’m currently in communication with Newton Campos who’s 94. He saw all of Jofre’s amateur career too. I’ve managed to get all the newspaper archives over his career but there were two fires at the TV stations (Globo was the big one in the 80s) so most his footage went with it.
Watched it last week. Better late than never lol. Brilliant documentary. The HD footage was amazing, and Jofre seems like not just a titan of a boxer, but a titan of a man. This made me a real fan of the guy. I am also not that surprised he is an amazing artist, brilliant sketching. His family seemed amazing and mercurial too! Great work from @ChrisJS and his friend Javier.
Yeah, the Jofre-Zumbano clan has quite a remarkable story. I’m going to get into real detail in my book and let me just say that I think they alone deserve their own book without even mentioning Eder. I hope I can do the story justice.
