Read it, and agreed, it is a great read. Especially the part where he admits to getting outclassed by Schommer.

Not too sure, but Henry Wharton was a good fighter and Eubank had one of his best performances against him.

Indeed, he had guts too. To tackle Benn, Watson, Wharton etc and win, to win WBO titles at two weights. He also had the belief and ability to go in with Carl Thompson (Who stopped David Haye) at Cruiserweight twice (he held his own in the first fight really well) He also stepped in with Joe Calzaghe at short notice after nearly a two year layoff and fought his heart out. Compare this to some of the big mouthed fighters who quit after the first loss or two. Eubank was value for money. He's probably better known and was more popular than any of the fighters that are currently fighting in the UK now.

I like your passion Popkins , but you are way off when it comes to Eubank , did he beat any of the best Americans at the time . Did he struggle like **** against Stretch and Sherry??

If you read boxing news , they did a profile on the best of Briitsh over the past 30 years and had the following.

    1. Calzaghe
    2. Lewis
    3. Buchanan
    4. Naz
    5. Hatton

Below these names they had Benn , Eubank and a few more , Eubank was a defender of the WBO title but did he really set the world on fire?????

A great entertainer , not a great boxer.

Was this recently? Because if so, I don't see how they can count Buchanan as a fighter from the past 30 years.

Yeah , it was about 2 years ago , and they did cheat a bit as I think Buchanan maybe had a fight in the 80's , when really his prime was way before.

Lloyd Honeyghan,Naseem Hamed,Herol Graham.Eubanks best fight were those mentioned, other than them his fights were more than useless. Benn looked sharper when he ko`d Doug Dewitt than his loss to Eubank.Eubank was a hometown fighter never attempting to take on the real big guns of his time,Benn took on two of them at least with Iran Barkley and Gerald McClellan whilst lispy Eubank kept saying Boxthings brutal.

Eubank did a lot of work off the front foot in both Benn fights and against Wharton, Calzaghe and Logan.

I think Watson was pretty close himself. The first fight was close and couldve went to Watson and the second if it wasnt for Watson walking right into that sick uppercut he probably wouldve won.

In regards to Ben Tackie (err) being better than most Eubank opponents.... I'll give you Amaral, that's about it. I really don't rate Tackie (??). Potentionally Giminez, Sherry, Close, Jarvis, Schommer was a fatty with suprisingly fast hands but maybe him (how good actually was he!?). People forget Stretch and Wharton were prospects going in, and never the same after taking Eubank's punches...

Malinga took 75% of rounds off Benn (x2), Thornton 60% of rounds off Collins and 33% of rounds off Toney, Holmes 60% of rounds off Pal-Park and F.Tate, Rocchigiani 60-66% of rounds off Maske, Michalczewski and Nunn. John Jarvis and Ron Essett didn't seem to give a good account of themselves at all against Eubank, but Jarvis looked good against Malinga and Essett clearly outboxed Baek and Galvano - they simply weren't able to look v.good against Eubank. Thornton looked quality against Sosa and Rocchi took out Hamsho in a round - Ben Tackie was nowhere near that level.
