Very close fight. Holyfield did struggle vs Moorer in their first fight and Usyk is way better than Moorer. With that being said, Usyk does not have a speed or work rate advantage over 91 Holyfield. I still think Usyk's slickness will enable him to win a decision but it will be very close hard fought fight.
Evan Fields is as head-to-head nightmare for anyone in history. Evander Holyfield was an outstanding cruiserweight in the 190 pounds days.
I think Evander Holyfield, at his best, was better than the best version of Oleksandr Usyk, but not by a lot. I have to pick Holyfield to win this one.
Holyfield KOs Usyk mid rounds. This is no shame to Oleksandr as I consider Holy very highly in H2H matchups. Usyk is without a doubt the best fighter in the world right now. Funny, I have very few fighters that I root/have rooted for, but these are 2 of them. No idea who I'd get behind in this one lol.
I tend to agree that Holy at his best was better than the best version of Usyk. But the thing that makes this one especially tricky and all the more interesting is that Holy was very hit or miss, and Usyk was very consistent.
Usyk does not get stopped by a fat middleweight like Fields did. In no version of the universe does that ever happen. Usyk is better. A good thing to do is flip it around and ask yourself what does Fields do against Chisora, AJx2, Dubious, Fury. The truth is he is going to struggle against Chisora because he doesn't have Haye's power or Usyk's defence, he's going to struggle against AJ and maybe get KO'd, same with Dubious, and Fury beats him. I cannot see him doing better than Usyk against these HW's.
Prime Holyfield is every cruiser and heavyweight's nightmare in a one off best v best scenario. He brutalises Del boy, stops AJ by half way, stops Dubois late, stops an exhausted Usyk somewhere after 10 due to the pace and bodywork he utilises. Fury likely smothers him and wears him out prime for prime and beats him the same way Bowe did, big engine, great infighting for a big man, walks him on to uppercuts all night, but it would have to be Wilder 2 mentality Fury because anything short of that gets outworked and outhussled. Yes, I am biased, and yes I'm not blind, Holyfield had faults but in a fantasy match we are surely giving each fighter their best night, and on his best night he was a nightmare.
Holyfield. Prime OU vs Prime Holy, 50/50. I think the best fight would be Usyk after he won the cruiser weight tournament and Holyfield just after he fought his last CW fight.
At Cruiser or Heavyweight, I'm honestly 50-50 on this one. I can't pick with any certainty. An 'on his 'A' game' Holyfield would be a nightmare for any fighter. The main negative with Holyfield is that he could be inconsistent or fight the wrong game plan. Where as Usyk is usually always as near damn-it 100% consistent on any given fight night. What a fantastic fight, or 'fights', they would be. Absolute classics, I'm sure.
Great fight, I’m going with Usyk but Evander was a punching machine and could absorb a huge amount of punishment. Tough fight, Usyk moves better and has higher IQ but it’s a very tough fight for both guys.
