The exposure is all yours chum. Nobody but you puts so much worth into ankle, wrist and calf measurements. In real life when Joe Louis is filmed walking up to Norton and Foreman to shake their hand he looks at least as big as the pair of them. I am talking about the appearance not the fibs from the measuring tapes.
So what? Hes fat, old and is most likely wearing shoes with higher soles than flat boxing shoes. A 50 year old 250+ pound george foreman would make a young joe louis look like a child.
You are talking about a middle-aged man who almost inevitably ,certainly in Louis' case puts weight on after he retires and two trained athletes in their prime .Look at their respective heights, weights, reaches, chest, and arm measurements you buffoon!
Sorry I missed the 1991 part. I think Bald George was best in 1991-93. I think that's where he topped out. I have been watching a lot of his comeback on YouTube, whilst I think there is a lot if smoke and mirrors, record padding against long necked thin guys, former cruisers, blond cowboys etc I do think George was quite capable in 1991. He matched Evanders win against Aldison Rodriguez and in 93 he matched Bruno's win over Coetzer. Trouble is neither Coetzer or Rodriguez prove he can beat Rocky. That's where I am at.
This is a more bizarre statement than anything mr Mcvey could have imagined about me! All that extra size did not make George more potent than his best though did it? It did not make George taller either. Old man Joe Louis in 1973 gives the appearance of being at least as tall, at least bone structure wise equal of both men. Here is historic footage of that moment. https://streamable.com/g0ic
Look at Joes head, shoulders and chest composted to Foreman’s. With all the size talk you’d expect Louis to look much smaller. Foreman in 1930 cameras wouldn’t look nearly as imposing.
Exactly. The colour TV screen closes in by comparison. You don't get the made for cinema screen long shots of the celluloid days. Not just a boxing phenomenon joe Louis Barrow was also a medical phenomenon. Joes head, hands and skeleton grew with age to make him even more imposing as an elderly man... He rode a reinforced wheel chair in his last days.
This is a classic "trick" that you modernists try doing. You exaggerate the size of the super heavyweights as being bigger than they are and exaggerate the size of classic heavyweights as being smaller than they were. Old Foreman would be the same height as he was in the 70s. He'd just be wider. Would 70s Foreman make Louis look like a child? Of course not, he would look slightly bigger. The only thing Old Foreman would do is make Louis look in better shape lol
Yes but choklab was comparing old louis with young foreman. Obviously the height wouldnt change. But in terms of SIZE and mass foreman was bigger than Louis
Prime Foreman had 2 inches on Louis for chest measurement when George weighed 217lbs How much bigger do you think his chest would be when he weighed 260lbs?
Comparing measurements taken in different eras is always a bit dicey, because the methods of taking the measurement are not necessarily the same, mistakes get made, and sometimes measurements are falsified.
Where are you getting the chest measurement from? My sources says that Louis had a 45 inch chest against Marciano. Considering he was past prime and his waist was bigger, the extra 10 lbs probably was on his waist and not his chest. My other source also says that foreman had a 45.7 inch chest against Ali. That's not a lot bigger than Louis.
