The two Tyson fights took so so much out of Ruddock in my opinion. Lewis got to him just at the right time. Think of a tyre being slowly deflated and then Lewis sticking the final nail in.
Good point.I remember in the days before the internet I kept hoping to read that Ruddock was coming back with a big fight, but if I remember right I only recall reading about one or two fights after Tyson and before Lewis.I really had high hopes for him.
Razor Ruddock is one guy who should have gone further, but I guess when you go tooth and nail twice with a prime Tyson and then get in the ring with a prime Lewis, it can shorten anyone's career. The way Lewis took it to Ruddock was a real shocker and I think it scared the hell out of many in the division, if not the fighters than at least their promoters.
Coetzee would have violated Tyson..violated HIM! Make him cry like a woman. VIOLATION! Tyson is lucky he became champ in such a weak era. Weaver, Coetzee, Page...you think Tyson would have become Champ against these guys?
Now this is getting out of hand ..He must think this era is steller considering none of the guys he mentioned are even champs !
Tyson put ferocious beatings on Ruddock to the body and head in both fights. He broke his jaw and hit him solid countless times, and it took a big toll on Razor. Tyson was still in his physical prime but his skills eroded badly by the time he fought Ruddock. Prison took something out of him physically but he seemed to have a little better head movement in his first few fights out of the can. I'd call it 50/50 for post prison Tyson vs pre Tyson Ruddock.
