I've been watching boxing since i was about 8 years old, around 1995, Benn - Mcclellan was one of the first fights i watched, so i grew up watching such people as benn, eubank, collins, naz, lewis, all of which were terrific assets to our sport. What i was wondering, was why didnt Eubank or Benn meet James Toney ate 168 around 1993 - 1994, after there 2nd fight?? Alot of people have seen the clip of Jonathon Ross, where James Toney and Eubank / Benn have discussions on air, so why didnt this fight take place after 1993 and the Benn / Eubank second match?? I know this fight ended a draw, but surely that wouldnt have stopped an international 168 superfight??
not sure really, maybe after jones beat him easily his stock sank a bit. then of course he moved up. toney against either benn or eubank would have been fantastic.
James Toney just seems like a petchulent little 5 year old to me. Whenever i see some kind of interview with him, its the same old tough guy, i'm the best, your **** stuff, a bit of a nob really. No way is this related to his boxing because he was one of the greats at 168 but he's still a nob
James Toney is a fcuking ******. Good boxer back in the day but he has real personal issues which make him seem arrogant. i dont hold it against him, hes just stupid.
Remember way back on the Jonathon Ross show Benn and Eubaink were both on the show and James Toney appeared satelitte with mickey rourke at the wildcard gym.u could see both benn and eubaink were intimidated.........'no fighters in england.....they all bums'!!
yeah they looked really intimidated as eubank said he was " quite ignorant " in his amusing way and benn simply laughed at him and said he was all mouth . intimidated :-(
Toney would have probably beaten them both - Benn definitely In a Boxing News article Eubank commented about Roy Jones and to a degree Toney being a league above them
I saw the same clip, toney was with mikey rourke at a gym (maybe Roach's) and said the WBC stands for we be crooks and the WBO, well we dont even count that!! lol.
Where? All I've read is that Eubank said he was a champion in his own right and didn't have to prove anything to anyone, and that he has already spent time in America. You sound like youre bullshitting Peak Eubank frustrates Toney probably beats him. Benn I don't know...at SMW he would probably have had more of a chance than at MW.
