I personally thought BOTH Wlad and Haye disgraced themselves in that match.. Wlad did too much of his usual holding, pushing, etc, while Haye spent most of the evening avoiding danger as well as making false claims about being pushed to the canvas when in fact, sometimes it looked like he was intentionally slouching to one knee in an effort to get points deducted from Wlad. I made this observation moments before Harold Lederman even said so himself. Weather a person is a casual boxing fan or a die hard follower of the game, the fight was a colossal disappointment. Nevertheless its not a fight that I'd use to gauge how Haye would do against Morrison. Tommy would have gotten killed by Wlad anyway so the comparison is moot.. At any rate if I had to put money down it would go on Haye, but Morrison would have a chance, which is why I wouldn't make Haye a heavy favorite. For whatever its worth, a prime Morrison was better than Chisora or shot versions of Valuev, Ruiz and Harrison. He had power, quickness and tenacity so a victory for the Duke isn't out of the question.. Just not something I'd bank on.
I'm not convinced that Morrison was better than Chisora. I think Chisora already has him on resume. Morrison's resume is barren other than his bicycle win over old Foreman. The only other real win is against Ruddock and I don't think I need to explain that one. And Valuev and Ruiz were past it, but not shot. Morrison feasted on shot guys on the way up.
I can't give chisora more points than Morrison for resume. while the Duke Certainly had a padded record the only real win that Derek has is over Malik Scott which I would called decent. There are many who say that he was robbed against Robert Helenius, but I didn't see that fight and im not big on counting robberies as legit wins, be it fair or unfair. Morrison ran his ass off against Foreman, but still got a win over a legit top 10 guy. Joe Hipp was a tough customer. Ruddock, Williams, Tillis, and Thomas were all shot but but at least they had names. Most of Chisora's victims don't.. Top it off with Duke having more that twice Derecks number of fights and within a short time frame and its a no brainer.. Ruiz and Valuev were in the last bouts of their careers, not fighting very actively as of late, and looking pretty lackluster in their more recent showings. Haye's resume pretty much blows at heavyweight.. But I'd pick him on the basis that he was at least better than everyone Morrison beat with the exception of Foreman whom Tommy fought very differently from the fashion that he'd fight Haye.
Actually, the Helenius fight is a big part of why I said that. Chisora definitely won that fight, without a doubt, and Helenius was pretty highly regarded at the time although he's since disappeared. Chisora also fought well against Vitali. It was probably an overstatement to say his resume is ahead of Morrison's, but he does seem on the way and I'm not really even a fan of his.
I won't get too heavily into debating the resumes of common opponents. We seem to be in agreement that Haye should be favored. I think that's all that need be said.
Doubt Haye would engage with Morrison. Morrison would win by Decision or a KO one thing is sure Haye isn't going to be the aggressor here.
They both overrated bangers who can't take a punch. Actually, to be fair to Morrison, few people overrated him at the time, certainly he was considered second-rater after Mercer mullered him.

All reasonable posts, like it. Not sure bout favouring Haye though, very interesting clash of styles with no real evidence of either having faced a truly similar opponent. I go for Morrison just....55/45. Can do enough to keep Haye at bay for me......great match up though! PPV stuff.
I thought he did a great job at staying out of harm's way. Took some punches but rode them out at full extension. Wlad was happy to keep it at that distance. Haye was slippery, I'll give him that. Morrison can boast that he went 12 rounds with Foreman, took some good shots, and won the decision. Overall though I don't think they had good chins. Certainly their power-to-chin ratios are clear out of whack.
We've seen Wlad KO or at the very least hurt/drop guys with glancing or half extended right hands like that. Beyond his superior defense, I'm not really sold on Haye being as vulnerable as Morrison.
Lean towards Morrison here. While Morrison was chinny and inconsistent and had stamina issues, Haye is one of the most overrated fighters in recent memory. He has the workrate/stamina or the stereotypical super HW who throws punches once every eon to conserve energy. He did a good job at avoiding most of Wlad's shots, but it came at the total expense of his offense. He has good speed and power with single shots, specifically the right hand, but his combos and composure are awful. He spazzes out and his combos often consist of 4 straight rabbit punches. He is pretty open for a jab too. Haye would be dangerous, he has better single shot speed, but Morrison's combination punching shits all over Haye's. His combos are faster, more fluid and more purposeful. Morrison also showed a true fighting heart in not only rising from 2 KDs to beat Carl Williams, but beat Joe Hipp with a freaking broken jaw and broken hand. He has the edge in having more of a fighter's heart. I would pick Morrison to beat the likes of Valuev (whom had more trouble with an 100 year old Holyfield than he did with Haye) and Harrison. Morrison may suffer an early knockdown or get hurt, but he would rally back to stop Haye.
There is a saying amongst athletes that goes 'if you don't take it, you won't make it.' To the thread...it's not an easy fight to call. Morrison is more proven, but he has shown to be vulnerable, even against fighters who were not world-class. I don't have a high opinion of heavyweight Haye, but he was quite elusive, was quick and punched hard. Morrison could well be winning the fight and walk right into something which turns the fight on it's head. I'd tentatively pick Morrison, but with Tommy there was always the potential for disaster.
Tommy had some serious skills, I think most would give him that. But he was awfully vulnerable too, frighteningly so for a world-class fighter. He was able to beat the powerful Foreman because George was as slow as a glacier and could never quiter catch up to Tommy, but against a much faster guy like Haye who can also bang, there is a potential banana skin right there.
Haye hit too hard, he battered Ruiz and wobbled Big Nick and played Yo YO with Derrick Chisora.....Tommy could land the hook but Dave has speed and can bang...Tommy was a big boy but chin was middleweight if caught
