I tend to think personaly that Lewis was put on this earth to make Bowes boxing career difficult both amateur and profesional.

He is a fighter with a set of strengths that compliment Bowes weakneses rather well.

This thread is however interesting because it pinpoints a time zone where Bowe might theoreticaly have the edge.

That's what makes the 93 fight so compelling - prime Bowe v. a very good but not polished Lewis. And it is a Lewis that brawled more and was open to get hit which would lead to some pretty heavyweight exchanges between the two.

Yeah I agree that prime for prime Lewis would beat Bowe
Lewis was much better defensively, and prime Lewis (96-99) had a better
jab than Bowe, Bowe would score, particuarly on the inside, but Lewis
wins a prime v. prime fight

It is truly a shame that Bowe and Rock Newman didn't have the forsight to realize their best shot at Lewis would have been in 93

I do belive that Bowe was the more complete fighter in '93 but always felt that he lacked belief when it came to Lewis. Many people feel he was superior to Lewis then but I doubt Bowe was one of them.
