Any way regarding mccall v foreman. I was thinking of this on the other thread who could stand toe to toe with George and mccall came to mind. I can see mccall getting some good punches in early, he wouldn't be intimidated and would walk straight in. George would be surprised and both men trade hard leather. At some point early on mccall lands a good right and foremen spins in to the ropes but doesn't go down. Round,, 4 and its George turn to hurt mccall with a ripping uppercut. Mccall reels across the ring and George is on the attack. Some how makes it through Oliver is on shaky legs. By the seventh rnd both men are exhausted and both clinch frequently. Seconds in to the eighth round and foremen connect s with a explosive uppercut and mccall crashes in to the ropes, his legs have gone, the ref jumps in immediately and waves it off. But mccall protest s claiming he could have continued. George says he's never been hit so hard whilst Oliver says he never felt a thing!!

Oliver would soon be suffering from a breakdown once he tasted Foreman's power....

That oliver mccall was 231 pounds of muscle with a great chin. I love foreman but with his stamina limitations back then, if mccall really came to win he would decision foreman or maybe even stop him late. If Mccall really comes to win that is.

I reviewed my post and want to correct it I don't see McCall crying or anything like that against Foreman. I just think Foreman would do damage to McCall and the fight would have to be stopped after a number of rounds. Maybe in the corner, maybe by the ref or maybe once McCall welts because of the power. Thinking about this now I could see McCall staying in there and making one hell of a fight with George especially if he can weather the early rounds and George tires. I could see should this bout make it passed 8 rounds some troubling times for George perhaps, unlikely though I think that McCall is able to finish him. Foreman even in his young career had great resolve and will to win.

Sidenote on McCall....I've become a pretty big fan of McCall's, when I boxed my weight was usually between 178-190 lbs and I'd often get paired up to spar with heavyweights or cruiserweight who hit freakin hard. I use to think of McCall sometimes when I'd go into these sparring sessions and how he used to stand his ground with Tyson all the time in sparring. I can say it worked as I never was hurt in sparring or any of my fights. Much respect for Oliver McCall as he was one tough dude and a good fighter.

I think McCall is one of the guys that could take Foreman on in a shootout. Great chin, great power. He was a little bigger than prime Foreman, too.

McCall loses unanimously and is knocked near-silly literally dozens of times (never comes close to falling, though). He does pull a rally in the last three rounds and actually staggers Foreman with right hands twice, the last time nearly flooring him (Foreman holds and pushes McCall until the ref docks him a point). At the end of it, though, Oliver's head is a swollen up mask from the heavy shots (and he definitely looks like he ain't gonna be having a Howdy Doody day any time soon), while Foreman looks relatively unscathed.

I just can't see him doing any of that against the Norton-destroying Foreman. I also don't see Oliver falling down against him, though.

This is a fight where it would probably be better for him to fall down TBH.

Definitely. Oliver had quite the chin...but in this case it might be to his (great) disadvantage. McCall did get hit, so Foreman would certainly land flush more than a couple of times. Even Lewis didn't have the punch of George (to be fair, only Shavers and Wilder are comparable, though both of them are more like whips while George is the two-armed refrigerator).

McCall could take a frightening career ending beating. The type of beating that takes a decade or 2 off your life.

It may well be actually. Taking Foreman s shots head on, round after round! Not to be advised.
