    so you had whittaker the lineal champ and you also had two young, strong champions in quartey and tito. why did these guys never take each other one?

    i know pea was coming to the end but considering his performance against hoya in 97 he'd have to be favoured over these 2.

    is there any reason why no unification attempts were made? did the titlists even want a piece of sweet pea or was he cherry picking his defences at this point?

    unifying the welterweight division would have been a great achievement for pea at that stage of his career, he was the lineal champ, the p4p number 1 and had just beaten the best lmw in the world. maybe he felt he'd already proved himself by this point?

    thoughts?
