Not in 1996. His workrate and reflexes went down but he still had respectable speed and of course his frightening power. Tysons style even at this stage was a problem for stick and move types, and walcotts age and smaller size means it will be that much harder to keep tyson off of him. Of course walcott was very clever and had that grit, cageyness and experience. Over 10, he might pull off an upset split decision win but over 12 i think tyson edges it or bombs him out late for a stoppage win. Of course there is always a chance Tyson hurts him early with a sharp combination then bombs him out. That's too much of a reality for me to favor walcott or even call it an even fight. Remember he didnt exactly have a great chin even when he was younger, plus as i said tysons non step pressure and sharp hooks/uppers peak a boo style is a huge problem for a guy who likes to use his feet and time his shots. Overall id say tyson wins at least 75-80% of the time.
I don't think Walcott was strong enough (though he could have been) to maul and tie up Tyson on the inside. At least constantly like Holyfield did. Plus, Holyfield did absorb some big shots. I don't know if Walcott could have survived those bombs.
Walcott could mess Tyson around for a few rounds ,having him looking clumsy and ineffective. He'd do this for at least 6 round .But at this stage Joe gets a little to cocksure of himself ,starts to drop his guard more and plant his feet. THEN Tyson does what he's best at ..and drops Jersey with a right Hook from hell. Joe attempts to climb up but his legs have gone. Tyson by ko 7
