1996 Mike Tyson vs prime Jim Braddock

1)Braddock could carry the same amount of weight better then Tyson because he was taller.

2)At the end of his career Braddock was half a pound from crossing the 200 pound limit and if his career had continued he'd have been a "small Bridgerweight". As in someone a few pounds over 200. Thats really where he should have always been.


Braddocks KO rate was 51% and thats the lowest it ever was. 10 of Braddocks last 12 wins were decisions before that his KO rate was much higher. Braddock was trying to be a power puncher at HW. Whether he was capable of being one or not is hard to say because he only put on weight a few fights and then won decisions against the best of the division. But he'd started his career as a power puncher at LHW.

 

1. Again, height isn't the only factor that determines natural fighting weight. I strongly suspect that you are simultaneously the only poster on this site, and the only adult I've ever interacted with, that is unable comprehend this simple biological fact.

2. So, again, he wasn't a Bridgerweight by modern standards.

3. Braddock scored 26 x stoppage wins in 83 x contests. He won 31% of his fights by stoppage. This is not indicative of a power puncher. More importantly, neither is the film of him.
