Im sure this has been done a 1000 times but I truly cant remember a debate on this matchup. What is everyone's thoughts? Edit: Not sure why I wrote 96 by the way...I just meant mid-late nineties prime Tito.
This thread was done YESTERDAY!! This is a close call for me. I think probably Tito would win by late stoppage or close points decision. He was too big and powerful at 147 compared to Floyd, who was never a natural welter.
Tito fights a lot like Pavlik. great puncher but a bit one-dimensional. He wouldn't be able to find Floyd. Hell Oscar outboxed Tito and ran away when he gassed out. Floyd will pot shot and run from the beginning. Wide WIDE UD. actually a shut out.
118-109 across the board - a for sure shutout by Mayweather. Tito couldn't find Oscar or Hopkins - Floyd would have boxed him silly.
PBF would school him. Tito is one dimensional and also has a weak Chin but I don't think Mayweather would stop him. It would be a clinic.
I think people are sold on power too much. Power is just one attribute of a fighter but people tend to think power can win all fights. Floyd beats tito in every aspect except power. Chico Corrales is 5'11 which i think is TIto's height. Chico got a lot faster hands and feet Tito. Both got one punch Kayo power, both can probably laid Floyd out with a few punches. Corrales tried to find FLoyd till he got KOed. Tito might be smart than Chico maybe... but he is too slow. Tito needs his opponent to come forward. Also Tito's chin is not impressive.
Like Floyd have always been susceptible to one-dimensional power hitter. Hell Tito doesn't even chase his opponents. I can't see how anyone would think that Tito is capable of beating Floyd Mayweater. Oscar was outboxing Tito easy and got decent footwork and got tired, ran away unharmed after the 8th round is just foreshadowing if tito does fight floyd.
PBF would beat him 9 out of 10...I like TITO but the matchup screams 10-2 decision...tito can not beat a pure boxer. Look at the ODH fight and floyd does not fade
yeah and he boxed titos ears off for 6 rds...then he showed his youth since he had 16 fights at the time and never really stepped up...and where is David "the Boxer Reid now...he is not PBF
