So we know Whitaker has enough to beat De La Hoya at this point, but Rivera and Hurtado gave him absolute hell.

How about if in 1996 HBO put up a unification series.

Round 1: Whitaker vs Quartey, Trinidad vs Rivera

    Round 2: Winner vs Winner.

Does Sweet Pea have enough of the old magic left to unify a second division, or would father time and uncle coke catch up with him sooner than expected?

Trinidad would come out on top. He wasn’t struggling as much at the weight at that point too. Whitaker had peaked (though beat De La Hoya) but I think he wouldn’t befuddle Ike the way he did Oscar. The jab for Quartey was so good and this is at a stage Ike was active too. Remember when he fought De La Hoya (and won IMO), he’s been out the ring close to 18 months.

I'm not sure a jab can pin Pea down tbh. I think he finds a way of beating Ike to punch and taking it on points.

Tito, I think once Pea had slowed to the point he no longer remains quicker than Tito, Tito will pound out a decision over him.
