yes the way Vits could judge distance was impressive, great match up. I have no problems with people thinking Vits could of beat him in a rematch or may have won without the cut and stoppage, it was a close competitive fight no doubt. I personally loved that fight as short as it was, what a battle. I don't blame Lewis for not wanting to come back, its good the guy cares enough of his health to retire when he did. Pretty easy for me to scream rematch when its Lewis that has to go take Vits punches again, lol, if Lewis would of stayed active without giving Vits another shot then I would feel different but if the guy wants to retire good for him, taking punches to the head isn't easy work.
Yeah, Lewis was getting old, not as good as he was imho. Vitali made him realise it. A pity they never met prime
In 97 Lewis fought and beat McCall, Akinwande, and Golota, in a combined 11 rounds. ( Lewis can't be blamed for the McCall debacle ) In November 2002 Klitch went 10 rounds with Donald, then lost to Lewis in 6 in June, 2003 and beat Johnson in 2 in the December of that year. Exactly what about those 2 records at those times makes anyone believe Vitali could win?
Billups roughed Lewis up for 10 round while Vitali flattened him. How could Lewis possibly have a chance? Yet, he beat Vitali. Sometimes records flatter to deceive.
Because Lennox was KO's by McCall and Rhaman. And Vitali was winning 4-2 on all 3 cards, and had Lewis tired. Take out the cut ( only time Vitali had a bad one ) and the re-match there's a logical conclusion. Even Lewis speaking in the third person knew Lennox wasn't going to win the re-match. So he ran away when the WBC ordered it.:deal
