Jones is p4p the better fighter, but I don't think he can keep Marciano off for an entire evening. Rocky will constantly be coming forward landing brutal shots to the body, head and forcing Jones into the ropes. Roy was awesome and loved watching the guy but he just wouldn't be able to deal with that constant pressure and harsh power.

Anyone who completely writes off Jones chances has a lack of understanding about the sport imo.

Jones is quicker of hand, foot and body, he has the better defence, he is a far superior technician and the size difference is grossly exaggerated. Jones is taller with a longer reach and weighed more or less the same as Rocky.

Rocky had to catch him to win. I don't see that being probably.

Lol, Jones avoided the best matches when the division was thin. He could not even face DM.

Once Rocky lands a good one to the head or body, it would be the end for Jones.

yes jones weighed 160 -175 in his career except a single fight where he was in 193 pounds and it was nothing natural, he was packed of muscle and he was much less fast, agile and effective, the natural weight of jones was 168 pounds. marciano weighed 180-192 1/2 and he was in super good shape, he was drained, his robust frame wa sbuilt to carry 192 pounds in shape, he was all bone, skin and natural mass of muscle, he was not inflated or trained in a gym, marciano was naturally around 20-25 pounds heavier than jones , built to take shots from hws, jones was fragile like a glass next to rocky. AND PLEASE STOP MENTIONING THIS BULLSHT OF THE REACH OR HEIGHT TO PROVE WHO WAS THE BIGGER MAN..THOMAS HEARNS WAS TALLER AND LONGER THAN TYSON,TUA AND FRAZIER... BUT HE WAS NOT BIGGER

Marciano would absolutely crush Jones. And I really rank Jones p4p, he's a God to me.

I disagree. If you take the fight night weights during Roy's LHW prime you'd see he isn't much lighter than Rocky.

Taller, Longer reach, more or less same weight. Size isn't the issue here. It's skill and Jones is more skilled.

Rocky could score the upset though and I wouldn't be too surprised if he did.

    On the subject of weights:

Jones was able to make 160lbs at the age of 25, 168lbs at the age of 27, and 175lbs into his 40s (pretty old to be making 175). Jones came in around the light heavyweight limit on fight night, in some of his light heavyweight defences. That means that he could easily have made the light heavyweight limit in Marciano’s era.

There is nothing new about fighters doing ridiculous things to their bodies to make weight. Archie Moore actually weighed more than Rocky Marciano when they fought, then he was able to make the light heavyweight limit again. God knows what Harold Johnson did to himself to make 175.

The idea of Marciano being a big guy who somehow trained himself down to 185-190lbs, is not just a dreamy rationalisation of Marciano apologists. Look at photos of him with guys like Moore or Patterson. They look like midgets next to him, despite weighing the same on fight night.

Hopkins could make MW into his 40's, doesn't make him a small LHW, makes him an athletic freak.

If you compare Jones v Ruiz with Rocky v Moore (similar ages right?) I would be surprised if anyone defined Jones as looking like a midget.

It's getting old guys but...eras, eras, eras.
Not to mention Roy was smaller than the Rock basically his entire career but let's look at a prime Roy Jones in 1952 vs. a prime Rock in 2000.
With few exceptions you...can't...f*****g compare fighters from different eras.
