Well, I won't do that for you. This forces me to conclude that every man Roy fought at 175 entered the ring at 175 pounds. :patsch

And Joe Louis, Jack Johnson and Ali were champ. What the **** is your point?

Ezzard Charles was champ 30 months before, Walcott WAS the champ, Louis was one year from fighting for the championship, Moore would go on to fight for the vacant championship…

Referring to Marciano as a bum made this thread immediately dismissible. If you favor Jones that is fine but why try to demean a man who passed away some 45 years ago and never did anything to you?

Guys, here's what I don't get,,,,most of you truly know the boxing game in and out and respect what a fighter is from the club fighters all the way to the champions, why have you given this guy credence when he labels the Rock over and again a bum? I've been around the game for many decades and have never met anyone who has had the guts to step in the ring and say what this fake does.

Marciano would quit on his stool

    Honest opinion

Prime RJ was the best I ever saw

    Ali a distant second

Duran in the first Leonard fight third

They are all great fightersÂ… Roy definitely the third in order.

But you need to see more film.

    Lord Almighty, you do.

Doesn't change that they were all near the end, washed up, past prime and far from the competition on a so called great resume

So, in the era in which boxing reached its apogee of popularity, the glamour division was populated and controlled by washed up fighters? Is that your argument?

Sure Senya, like you took your head out of Jones' ass long enough to count Marciano's punch stats. LOL.

    Here are some REAL stats:

Jones-Paz avg Jones avg punches per round 51
    Jones Hopkins "49
    Jones Toney 51
    Jonoes McCallum 44
    Jones Griffin 1 41
    Jones Del Valle 40

So lets pretend that you sat down and counted Marcianos punch stats and that those are accurate. Marciano who is bigger, stronger, more durable, hit harder, and throws more punches on average per round (never mind that you neglected to include the one fight I referenced which got your panties in a twist: Moore). That pretty much proves my point and sounds like a nightmare appointment for Jones and a recipe for his winding up in the hospital. But go on, try to rationalize how your hero would deal with that.

That I mentioned in that thread at boxrec forum also. You have to look at Jones' opponents' punch stats, not his own. They were throwing 2-3 times less against him than was their average punchstats. What should also be noted is that the 76 punches average vs DC was based on just two rounds - 36 in round 6 and 116 in round 8. Take out that anomaly, and Marciano had 51 punches/round which is just 5 punches higher than average punchstats of modern heavyweights according to Compubox.

Rocky would not throw less vs. Jones, though how often he would land is a fair question.

But taking out DC-& not considering his last championship fight, AND the one repeatedly alluded to-is not maikng an intellectually honest argument.

Also you need to consider that Rocky threw nearly all power punches, not jabs or range finders.

Rocky would shoot often vs. a speedster like Jones.

And anyone saying Rocky would "quit on his stool" is either so extremely biasd or ignorant about the man's character & work ethic as to erase all credibility on this subject at least. Nobody was tougher than Rocky, he often came from behind, had no fear/might fall asleep before a fight. Beat Charles when he had a nose split in two down to the BONE.

It is asimine at best to say he would ever quit on his stool.

tennis would you fight on with an injury remotely like Rocky? No way on God's Green earth?

Though I'll bet your vanity would say you would not quit on your stool anyway.
Yet you impugn Marciano this way against all logic & sense of fairness.

Sounds like someone who will say anything at all, regardless of it relationship to reality.
