That's just your opinion. His punch stats varied greatly from round to round.
It was calculated by user named HomicideHenry.

You're either trolling or don't watch boxing at all. If you watch Jones or many HBO fights, you'd notice the fight night weigh in, which records the fight night weights.

    Interesting.

This proves that Jones himself would have been able to make the light heavyweight limit in Marciano's era, and his bigger oponents were coming in around the same weight as Archie Moore in a catchweight fight.

Come to think about it, Marciano only weighed as modern cruiserweights.
    According to CompuBox:
Vassily Jirov vs James Toney - 86 punches per round
Vassily Jirov vs Jorge Castro - 79 punches per round
Vassily Jirov vs Adolpho Washington - 74 punches per round

This needs to be put into a bit of context.

Just watch Walcott in the first fight with Marciano. Does he look near the end to you? I thought he looked magnificent, not magnificent for a 38-year old, but genuinely excellent.

Charles was a veteran fighter with the majority of his career behind him, but again, does he look washed up to you on film? He was 32...not some doddering old man.

Moore was something of a freak, like Hopkins. Past his physical prime, but still very definitely a force. Some of his best work came after the Marciano fight.

And honestly, the closest Marciano came to losing was against Walcott in the first fight. Forget the myth that Marciano was seconds away from defeat against Charles because of the cut nose in their second fight.
The ref said afterwards that he had no intention of stopping the fight. Aside from the cut nose, it was a one-sided fight.

Jones is 1 of the greatest P4P punchers ever, pretty much stunned everyone he faced prior to his decline and was destroying contenders who'd never been stopped before.

He was only around 10lbs lighter than Rocky if that, Rocky would be respecting Jones power if he wasn't KO'd which is a possibility in itself

Boxing doesn't work like that though. A pressure fighters output drops when he misses and gets tagged with big counters again and again. He starts becoming cautious or risks getting knocked out. As pointed out Rocky's punches per round dropped against fighters who could counter him and he'd be facing the best counter puncher he ever faced.

Then why was his output highest against Ezzard Charles and Archie Moore?

Considering Moore and Toney fought im similar style, and same for Jirov and Marciano (throwing power punches in bunches), Jirov threw a record number of punches at cruiserweight vs Toney. Perhaps it had to do with the style? Vs Charles Marciano's punch stats varied, like I said, one round he't throw a lot, another round he's throwing 2 times less than an average modern heavyweight throws per round.

Did Marciano not sleep enough for the rematch with Charles? Or did he tire himself out throwing so much in the 1st bout and needed more than three months to rest?
And like I said, his punch stats should be compared to cruiserweight stats, not to heavyweights. I only have punch stats for three Jirov fights above, the last one of which was fought at 200 lbs or above, why it was relatively low.

His output was relatively low until both men got tired and tried to steal breathers. Boxing like all sports is the swaying of momentum.

Moore and Charles also lay on their opponent making them more hittable while Jones is more like Walcott and look to take the ring centre. And ofcoure Rocky's output was pretty low in the first Walcott fight and Walcott was ahead in the fight at the time of the KO

They were visibly throwing less though, both were older and past prime.

The main factor being Walcott completely outboxing him. He kept plugging away and eventually landed his Suzie Q though.

Walcott was bigger than Jones he was also 38 much much slower with much less stamina than a prime Jones. He was certainly tired near the end, which you know a Prime Jones wouldn't be.

As for the second Walcott fight Walcott looked scared and like he didn't want to put himself through hell again. He could have got up and continued.

Marciano is only proven against past prime slick fighters and even then Walcott and Charles nearly beat him. What if Walcott was 33 or Charles was 28 and Marciano was past prime at say 33 or even like JJW 38? It's likely the results are reversed.
