Who wins? I wish this fight would have happened. Would Tito's power have gotten through or would Shane have outboxed him or maybe got the KO? My money would have been on Shane but it would have been good
As quick and slick as Shane was and could be, I think Tito Trinidad's brand of power punching and strength would have been too much for him.
Tito on points. He'd probably get dropped once or twice, but I think he had better punching technique than Shane and threw more accurate combos. He'd be landing more and in control for most of the fight, and would hurt/punish Shane late. I think Tito was just a better fighter all-round.
This 1 isn't going the distance, defense would be an afterthought for both men. I lean towards Mosley, he's the quicker, performed much better against and Tito isn't hard to hit, he was down a few times at 147 and 154 and Vargas nearly stopped him, I see Mosley's right hand coming over Trinidad's left hook too. Still Tito is such a greater puncher against Shane's defense. So it is a toss up, lean towards Mosley though, he looked sensational pre-Forrest and has the power, chin, speed to do the job.
Shane Mosley was never slick, never much of a mover, and his jab was always, for the most part,a range finder that was used to set up his overhand right.Mosley was an offensive machine,at his peak.Exceptional hand speed,Terrific combination and body puncher, and pretty good power.Power boxing,is what I believe his old man referred to is as. I think Mosley's offense alone isn't enough to favour him down the stretch against Trinidad. He'd definitely create difficulty, and I wouldn't expect anything less than a highly competitive, thrilling encounter between two men noted for their offense, but I think you need alot more than what Mosley offers - as much as he does offer - in order to beat Trinidad.A tight defense, some movement, and a consistent, authoritative jab, perhaps. An intelligent, somewhat disciplined approach.I don't really think Mosley is capable of that.
No he isn't but you don't need to be the things you listed to beat Trinidad. Mosley may not be slick but he does actually look to not get hit as opposed to Trinidad who disregards defense and constantly looks for the left hook, not caring if his opponent is quicker or hitting him, Tito is the definition of left hook happy he just loves that punch with a complete disregard for everything else and for that reason isn't that hard to beat. Look at his fights with Vargas, Campas and Carr, down and ready to go, if that was Mosley what would have happened? Tito went down. I don't remember him being ready to go. Mosley would have trouble with Tito's reach and body punches. You forget Tito at his best was when he went to the body and doubled the left. Look at the Thiam fight.
I have no idea what would have happened - though,it must be said,Trinidad has a history getting up from the seat of his pants and becoming even more of an imposing figure in the fight. Can't say I agree with him being ready to go,either. And Trinidad's losses and the fights in which certain flaws were exposed do suggest that the three things I listed were required in order to beat Trinidad.A few fighters tried the whole shootout thing with Trinidad and got destroyed in the process.Mosley's defense wasn't anything to speak of,and Trinidad was a very accurate,heavy-handed puncher himself.
With Naseem Richardson on his side , Shane KOs that hyped fraud just like Hopkins did and just like he did the other hyped fraud from Tijuana .
I think Tito would have his moments in this fight. Maybe even drop Shane once or twice but I think Shane outboxes him. Much like Oscar did in the early stages of there fight. As tough as Shane is I don't think he would have tried to slug it out with Trinidad.
I would have preferred to watch this fight over Wright-Mosley series anyday! Mosley was just the better boxer-type though he didn't have the jab like DLH or Hopkins or even Stephens to trouble Trinidad. His power would be too much for Trinidad and Trinidad wasn't hard to find at all. Trinidad had heart for days and would keep getting up but Shane would stop him mid-late rounds. Keep in mind, if a WW Trinidad fought the Mosley who was old and faded against Pacquiao & Mayweather than Trinidad would've annihilated him. Quartey-Trinidad would've been interesting too in which I see a determined Trinidad behind on cards stopping the stamina fading Quartey eventually.
