Granted its not a boxer, but what as the debate again surrounding HGH and it wasn't detectable or was out of your system within a certain period?

Former Great Britain rugby league star Terry Newton has been found dead at his home in Greater Manchester, in an apparent case of suicide.

Newton - who had 15 caps for Britain and also played for Leeds, Wigan and Bradford - is understood to have been found hanged at a house in Orrell, near Wigan, on Sunday afternoon.

The ex-Wakefield hooker, 31, had started a two-year doping ban in February after testing positive for a human growth hormone.

He was the first athlete in any sport to have tested for HGH, and his suspension was hailed at the time as a breakthrough in the war against doping by anti-drugs campaigners.

"Shortly after 2pm on Sunday 26 September 2010, police were called to a house on Harswell Close in Orrell, Wigan, following a report of concern for welfare," a Greater Manchester Police spokesman said.

"Officers went to the address and found the body of a 31-year-old man.
"Inquiries have been launched, but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death."

Newton tested positive for the banned substance on 24 November 2009, after a random test during pre-season training with Wakefield, who cancelled his contract when the UK Anti Doping Association suspended him.
He had said he hoped to return to rugby league

Very sad to hear this. Obviously he should never of taken HGH but at least he was man enough to take responsibility for what he had done and lets be honest, he is far from the only athlete doing it, he just got caught.

    RIP

Terry was a good enough player without taking that crap...the man must have been in absolute dispair to take his own life....best wishes to the Newton family at this difficult time.

    Agreed 100%.

He'd had an iffy could of years at Bradford and wanted to go out in style at Wakefield, they'd have had high hopes for him too.
