If they think 1 decent Saturday night fight cars a month constitutes £8 a month. Probably about £137 a month
Sky Sports is around £30 a month and you get loads of sports. DAZN is £7.99. Do DAZN provide 26% of Sky's sports' coverage? Not a chance, it's more like 5%. DAZN should be priced at £2 per month.
Also with Now TV you can share your sub. I know a lot of people including myself. Dont think DAZN offer this benefit. So I only pay £15 to watch the test cricket
Some dreadful mismatches for the first event in the Eubank and Riakphore fights. I was hoping Huggie would go in the right direction and fight someone better than Wach but Hammer is no better, just a durable guy who will give him rounds.
Hughie should be fighting a Wallin or Kabayel next ideally- no rush with him but I always get the impression he’d be better matched if Mick actually had some money (which he does not). He’s been in this odd situation in the past five years of never really having a channel/promoter backing him consistently. I highly doubt this new deal is anywhere near the cost of the previous one for Sky.
Sky have done very well to announce all this the day after DAZN's announcement. Matchroom will need to pull a few rabbits from the hat very very quickly to try and distract from this. Agreed over the last five years, but Mick hasn't been his promoter for the last couple, only his manager. Mick took him as far as he could and took huge personal risks to secure the Parker fight. Hughie signed for Matchroom then took the Povetkin fight straight away - Hearn professed to loving the balls he showed, but as soon as he'd lost, his face didn't seem to fit any more. Frankly, the likes of Babic are more exciting, and fighters like Wardley probably a lot cheaper.
Not the most of exiciting cards on sky I agree, but you know all these cards will get the promotion of Sky Sports News etc. Fight Camp was bang average but Saturdays card and the Liverpool one look good. I still think DAZN is going under the radar.
Hughie’s career really is a case study in how not to do it. No matter, once time travel is invented he’ll finally have another chance of being the youngest ever HW champ as we were promised years ago.
That comparison doesn't really work though as the sky sports subscription is subsidised by the overall sky subscription which isn't £30. You cannot ring sky and say "I only want sky sports please"
