It actually takes months to tabulate PPV numbers. This number is only a projection and typically the final numbers are always higher. Anyway, I think it's funny they're releasing projections only days after the PPV, yet after the Guerrero fight they refused to speculate what the numbers were, even weeks after the PPV. I think they're still tabulating those figures.
it will surpass previous record and set new one. And remember the last one didn't cost $74.99 plus tax for HD, Do the math, in PPV alone they getting rich, put aside Tickets, Gate, sponsors etc. etc. etc.
For sure! Do you realize that Mayweather Guerrero had less than 1 million PPV buys? This had 2.2 million PPV builds. That's over double the amount of PPV buys! Floyd should want a rematch with Canelo. He made $41.5 million not counting bonuses. Floyd got over twice as many PPV buys as he did vs his last fight. This set records for Showtime. Obviously it had everything to do with Canelo's star power. Mayweather can't do these #'s alone without a dance partner like Canelo. And you guys thought I was crazy talking about a rematch at 154.
man cut this ****. Canelo wouldn't do over 2 million with anybody else. Floyd wouldn't go over 2 million with anybody else either (except Oscar and Pacquiao). Floyd is still a bigger draw than Canelo, but the both of them should have a lot of credit for the success of this card
Great news!! Couldnt believe some of out own boxing fans thought it wouldnt do 2 mil buys?? OF COURSE IT WOULD!! Thats how popular Mayweather and Canelo are. I say putting Garcia-Matthysse on there got them an extra 300k
No sh*t...guess what?.... ...I agree with this. BOTH of them should have a lot of credit for the success of the card. Both of them, yet Floyd made $41.5 mil and Canelo made less than $5 mil. Floyd isn't over 8 times the draw than Canelo. He's a bigger draw then Canelo, but Mayweather didn't do 2.2 mil by himself, because FMJ Guerrero did less than 1 mil. Floyd basically got 9/10ths of the money, and Canelo only got 1/10th of the money. My point is, that Canelo had a lot to do with the $2.2 mil, but Floyd is getting 9/10ths of the money. So from Floyd's perspective, he made out very well here, and no one other than Canelo can probably get him over $2 mil PPV buys. So a rematch is in Floyd's financial interest. He is a businessman after all.
Floyd is a proven draw who averages more than 1 million ppv buys per event. Canelo has never headlined a ppv. Plus he's getting +12 million dollars, not 5. And Canelo's highest payday before this was less than 3 million dollars. He'll be making a lot more in the future. Hopefully he can keep winning and carry the sport in the future. Him vs Cotto would do nice numbers
You have no idea what kind of numbers Canelo would do, as his only ppv event is with Mayweather, whom is the biggest draw in the sport. Also, did Mayweather vs. Guerrero have an 11 city press tour? 900k vs a man with 7 fans, and whom NO ONE gave a real shot, is really good. Mayweather is a proven entity, so of course he gets the lions share.
Its good for Showtime. They should be able to recuperate their loses from the Guerrero fight but even at 2.2 million it barely broke even. With the money they guarantee for Floyd they better find another one that could generate at least 1.5 million to make a little profit but the question would be WHO? Who's next that creates enough buzz to generate decent PPV. Garcia isn't the one. That's for sure.
