Come off it Koogser. He won a vacated World Title from Charles Martin, was exposed by a little fat mess and won it back from a demotivated little fatter mess. Joshua has never dethroned a genuine World Champion in the ring unlike Fury twice or overcome any adversity in the ring except against a very old man aged 41. The man is a vacant belt specialist who was schooled twice against the first real threat he faced - Usyk. A very well protected, well managed career with next to zero risks taken until Usyk. He still managed to lose one of them.
Wilder won his title against the penguin Stiverne who in turn won a vacant title and yet you call him a champion. Joshua won his title against Martin who in turn won a vacant title and yet you call him a vacant title holder. Your obsession with Joshua being “british level” is bizarre.
No obsession about Joshua from me, just stating that he is a paper World Champion without any elite traits and he has never dethroned a genuine World Champion in the ring. Not much better than British Level fighters such as Whyte, Chisora or Joyce. His choice of next opponent will be another risk avoiding test ducking the likes of Bakole, Hrgovic or Zhang. I fully expect him to go full out for the meaningless fight against next to zero risks being Washed Up Wilder or Whyte. Show me in the clip below Joshua's elite traits. This content is protected
Joshua's legacy fight was 1 June 2019 in New York and that is what people think of when looking back on his career. Adam Smith's face shows I was right all along. Shaky Legs Adam Smith's finest moment. This content is protected
Wilder was also a paper world champion without any elite traits who never dethroned a genuine world champion in the ring and yet you don’t bring his name up in every thread.
He is a foreigner and there is no fakeness about him or his abilities other than his world class power. The false narrative about Joshua's ability is a farce when he is bang average, the false Humble persona was rumbled in Saudi and he has the Charisma of an unwanted pile. The real comparison for us brits in this era is Fury v Joshua and there is a huge gap in levels of ability. Joshua v Dubois or Joyce are both 50/50 for me, Wardley would be 60/40 in the favour of Josh and I give Bakole a 70/30 chance of beating him along with Zhang. He won't fight any of them as it will be a risk averse fight next.
Joshua is a bad example, but there are definitely fighters out there who lost and then won world titles against champions deemed worthy at the time (off the top of my head Bernard Hopkins, Scott Harrison, Charlie Edwards, Froch).
The fact that he is a foreigner is irrelevant or your opinion of his personality is irrelevant. You constantly slate Joshua as a paper champion and yet rate Wilder as a “genuine world champion” despite them winning their titles in exactly the same circumstances which is by beating the guy who won it whilst vacant. “Joshua has never dethroned a genuine World Champion in the ring unlike Fury twice”
What makes Wilder a genuine world champion though as he won his belt off a fighter who won a vacant one similar to Martin? I make you spot on re Joshua btw but don't see how Wilder doesn't fall in the same category. Wilder has to be one of most overrated fighters in the history of the sport. Simply astonishing how many people believed he was an elite level fighter. Some people even rated him higher than Usyk and favoured him against ATGs FFS.
I don't think many people see him as elite I just think the vast majority see a weak heavyweight division with limited ability. Said it before but you just need 1 really good trait to be successful in this division and with Wilder it was a massive right hand. Nobody is fooled and think Wilder is a masterful boxer or an ATG imo.
I dunno I think there are a lot of people who were fooled into thinking Wilder was something special. All the talk of "beats everyone except Fury" and "50-50 against any heavy in history" just two examples. I feel like some of it is more to talk Fury up more than actually rating Wilder but I still find it baffling.
We are comparing Fury v Joshua yet people like to throw Wilder in to defend against Joshua's mediocrity, vacant belt acquisitions, very soft defences of paper belts and his loss to Mr Burger King. Fury ended the Klitschko era away from home being a clear underdog going into the fight, he is the unbeaten lineal Heavyweight Champion of the world who beat the man and the Usyk fight will define the era. Usyk is a boxing legend already, cleaning out the cruiser division, splattering Bellew and showing in 2 fights how easy it is to beat and defend against a mediocre paper belt Heavyweight Champion coming through the vacant belt route. Usyk now gets his chance against the man who beat the man with the rest of the division not in the same league.
There is a bit of that but again I think it's just because how bad alot of these heavies look. Nobody think Wilder has elite ATG skills. Some would argue ATG power. Don't take the most extreme views as everybody, its a loud minority.
Exactly this and has been stated all over the forum from myself and others. We admire Wilder's heart and power providing boxing fans with a great trilogy with Fury. He was only secs away from winning two of the three fights and fought until he could fight no more. Very limited boxing skills but geat power and heart of a warrior. Compare this with bang average Joshua with his vacant paper belts and how he jacked it in adversity with Ruiz with the heart of a chicken.
