Ian Lewison has replaced Sam ***ton (who pulled out due to injury) to face Gary Cornish in a British title eliminator (subject to the BBBoC approval). I saw lewison boxing at the St Andrews Sporting Club in June and he can punch but looked a bit sluggish, this might be due to his lack of inactivity before that fight but this could be a good scalp for Gary and show us how much he has improved!

There is another interesting fight on the bill with Kris Carslaw vs John Thain in a Light Middleweight British Title eliminator. John was unlucky not to get the nod against Ronnie Heffron and Kris has much more experience and gets home advantage!! I wouldn't like to call a winner for this one.

How do you see these fights going and will the winners have a chance when fighting for the British title?

I've never seen Cornish so can't call this one, I have seen Lewison live though when he was fighting Tom Dallas, from memory that was a pretty decent and lively fight whist it lasted, early 2nd round stoppage if I recall with Dallas being dropped a few times during the fight.

Youtube link here if anyone is interested in watching it (I'll watch it later to refresh my memory)

Ian Lewison fought again recently and somebody on here said he was very sluggish again, so Cornish might be getting him at the right time. Then again this is a big chance for Lewison so he will be motivated. Lewison looked good taking out Timo Hoffman and Tom Dallas who are big tall opponents like Cornish, so I'll go for Lewison in this one. I've also no seen much of Cornish and this is a big step up for him here.

Carslaw-Thain should be a tidy fight, but I fancy Thain with him being taller and longer. Carslaw's tough and he's got plenty of experience though, so it will be interesting.
It should be a decent night.

I would go to some of the smaller shows if tickets were cheaper. I have paid £40 to watch World Champions and Olympic Gold medalists, it's the same price for these up and coming youngsters on the smaller shows.

I realise the promoters need to cover costs but for me it's a bit steep. Especially when some are in sports centres and venues like that.

I see your point Jon, but I prefer the non-televised small hall shows especially when it's a decent card like this with a good co-main event.
IMO the televised cards should be better at times and you should get more for your money especially when you have the option to stay at home and watch it for nothing. It depends how big a fan you are I suppose.

Although I agree with this going to points I really don't think it will be boring just because none of them are noted punchers! i love a knockout or up and down war but i also enjoy watching 2 skilled operators using their brains trying to get the edge and win a tactical battle.

This interests me because John has the height and showed his toughness against Heffron by sticking to his guns and imo should have got the win, if John could command teh centre of the ring with his long jab and punish Kris as he comes in with uppercuts then John can win this fight. On the other side Kris has fought the higher level of opponents and just come up short but on his day Kris has a fluid switch hitting style and if he can get into a rhythm he could easily dart inside get his punches off and move out again, if he can adapt these tactics then he can win!!

The Cornish-Lewison fight is bubbling up nicely as Lewison says Cornish is useless and he's going to flatten him! Lewison also added the only thing going for Cornish is he's fit!
That's the thing I fancy Lewison to get Cornish out early, BUT if he doesn't then I think he will be in trouble because IMO he isn't in any shape to go the duration.
