    People need to stop whining.

The Hooker-Perez fight was bad judging.

The Kovalev-Ward fight was fair judging.

There is a distinction you tumbleweeds.

The 10th round was probably the best candidate for Kovalev winning a round in the 2nd half of the fight. I'll have to rewatch that round.

The 12th round seemed like Kovalev was winning it early, but Ward did land some nice punches, including a sneak right hand that landed flush if I recall. Also Kovalev had a pretty blatant low blow in the 12th which Byrd sternly warned Kovalev, and frankly that low blow may have been a decisive factor in that round that swung it to Ward. Also right at the end of the 12th round Ward landed a nice hook to the body to end it, as sort of putting a stamp on the fight so to speak. 2 of the 3 judges gave Ward the 12th.

Kathy Duva got it correct here. This is what seemed to happen in the later rounds:

I watched the fight with the sound down. It's not even close. Ward changed things up in the middle of the bout with more clinching and holding, but he was still getting beaten even at that game.

If the rematch is held at a neutral site or a site with fans favorable to Kovalev, there's no shot Ward wins. He didn't win tonight, but the judges were influenced by the crowd.

I gave Kovalev the 10th and the 12th, and Ward the 11th. Exactly as Compubox had.

116-111 Kovalev. After Kovalev could not get him out in the 2nd and Ward started settling in, I figured this was coming. I saw it on the U.K. feed and got to hear Paulie and Macklin bend over backwards giving Ward every benefit of the doubt.

kovalev should absord some of the blame he must have known the officials were not going to do him any favors.

how much by? remembering effective aggression (which basically equates to punches landed) is only 1 of 3 round by round scoring criteria

now lederman himself during the demarco broner fight stated DEFENSE should be 25% of your criteria (this is coming from a guy who HEAVILY favors any aggressor, effective or not).

if kova outlanded ward 25 to 10 EASY KOVA round but if its 10-8 then youd have to look at quality of shot, and the other 2 criterias to make a proper judgement on the round

The british bias commentary towards Ward was shocking. The following round after kovalev had scored the knock down, Macklin still maintained that Ward was winning the fight.

I knew from there along with the Perez fiasco, that the fix was in.

Sky have always had their heads up Ward's backside, they try to market him like Mayweather and the commentators big him up because he beat their golden boy Froch. It's annoying.

I don't score fights by compubox but I just remember thining Ward clearly won the 9th and Lederman was moronic for thinking Kovalev won it. Then the 10th I remember thinking maybe Ward didn't do enough. The 11th probably Ward yeah, and the 12th like I said Kovalev started strong but faded, and Kov had the low blow, then Ward dug in a hard body shot at the bell. The 12th is a tough round to give to Kovalev despite starting strong IMHO but I can certainly see the 10th being for Kovalev.

Good luck Ward giving a rematch outside of Oakland. Ward will go into hiding again and avoid tough fights.

I've been a boxing fan for a long time and people only talk about slo-mo replays and judging criteria when they're trying to justify an unwarranted bad decision.

There is 4 criterion btw, not that it matters because you can be damn sure judges aren't thinking about them.

Most certainty and obviously Macklin was determined to make Wards win over him look even more justifiable by calling him winning the fight.

It was a disturbing level of bias.

UFC it is from now on.

    whats the 4th criteria ?
    1. effective aggression
    2. defense
    3. ring generalship

iv been watching boxing about 8 or 9 years now but iv never heard of ANY other criteria

I gave Kovalev the 9th as well.

It was a close round. What happened, and what may have affected the judges, was the crowd stood up after Ward pushed Kovalev through the ropes. But no damage took place, no shot landed.

This is an example of how a crowd can sway opinions.

Again, I watched the fight with no sound. It's much easier to score fights that way.

It will be tough, I agree.

You think Ward wants that again, especially outside of the USA?

    We'll see.
