The two judges who had Barker winning both scored the last round for Barker.

Geale pounded him in the final round and Barker was close to going down.

Beggars belief that. Geale clearly took the 12th. Saying that though I still think Barker won, was dominant from 7-11. I think Geale subconsciously switched off a bit after the end of the 6th, was very lax when he came out and thought he had a beaten man infront of him. Gutted for Geale, Barker was ready to go in the 6th, Geale pounded him when he got up but just couldn't find that shot to the body that would of ended it for sure. Massive heart from barker. Would pay to watch these two go at it again.

sad thing is, geale usually outworks opponents and thought for sure especially after the 6th, that geale would come home strong, no complaints with the decision it was geales fight to take and he didnt seaze the opportunity, he will have to try rebuild now hopefully he has a rematch clause, will watch them go around again but this is the end of the road for both

Can't believe that anyone would give Barker the final round. That said I do think he won the fight and the SD was a fair call.

Nothing like a bit of controversy to overshadow a cracking fight. Shaw has a heap of pull with the IBF, watch him lodge a complaint regarding this final round 'oversight' and petition the IBF to order an immediate rematch. At very best IBF will give Barker the opportunity to make a voluntary defense, with the winner ordered to face Geale within 90 days. Makes sense as IBF can distance itself from the Soliman, Sturm merry-go-round is he banned, is he still mandatory BS.

Don't think so TC. I reckon we've seen the 'blueprint' for how a fight between these two would play out. Tight, two way action, 50/50. They could fight ten times and it'd be the same.

barker suprised me big time. Going into the 12th I thought geale needed a knockout to win. Barker through more, landed more, hit harder and cleaner for the most part to. Well done to both men on a fantastic fight. Right man got the nod.

I thought Barker done enough to win the fight, but there is no way that he won the last round, that is ridiculous.

I know everybody focusses on the last rd and Geale did win it in my opinion, but 75% of the people i have seen comment on the fight in general had Barker winning overall so it's a bit weird really.

Good action fight and even with the "iffy" scoring in the 12th,I had Barker 7-5 in rounds.
Let's see them do it again after the Sturm defense.

It was clear for Geale, no doubt - but it ought not have mattered or had the result hinging on it.

Geale IMO took rounds 5 & 12 as well as obviously the 6th 10-8. The 1st and 4th were very tight but I did think Barker shaded them. You could argue those either way or have them both level 10-10 - all perfectly acceptable. Even if you give those to Geale, that put him at 7-5 in rounds and even with the KD point still falling short with a final card of 114-113 Barker.

The 2nd, 3rd, and 7th-11th all belonged to Barker rather conclusively.

I gave Barker 12th round, yes he got wobbled but did enough to out work Geale throwing the more heavier effective punches

Wait, wait, wait...this is where proper grammar and punctuate really come in handy on forums...

You gave Barker 12 rounds or you gave him the 12th round?

Very, very different concepts. :yep (although some would argue they're equally absurd)

u have to factor in home town advantage, it makes a fighter rise that much more. Geale will find Barker very hard to beat in his home town with thousands of UK fans screaming for Barker to take Geales head off. Barker will only get better from here, Geales got as good as he is going to get. Dont forget that Barker has returned from a 14 month layoff and only fought twice prior to facing Geale. He has Geales number, he is a smarter fighter, punches harder and has a huge heart. If Geale was smart he wouldnt have done what he did in the 6th round and punched himself out, he should have picked his shots and looked for that spot and possibly could have stopped Barker in the 6th
