    1. Where do you rank him among the greatest Mexican fighters of all time?

    2. Have you ever seen his fight against Wilfredo Rivera? If so, how he managed to stay relatively competitive against a fighter who gave hard times to prime Mosley and Oscar at the ridiculously ancient age for this weight class - 48

I really like Carlos, I'd have like to have seen a rematch with Benitez. His fight with Duran was simply taking on a fighter that was better than he was and through the years he basically admitted it.

I think of him kind of like Nino Benvenuti, Emile Griffith, Donald Curry. A great fighter, but not an ATG.

Unlike Alexis Arguello, I actually saw and was standing a few feet away from Carlos Palomino when my Uncle Reggie Ho took me to the movie set for the Fists of Steel in Waikiki that they acted in. I watched him get instructions for his part for a few minutes then my uncle took me to the dressing room area in the parking lot by the boat docks and showed me Alexis Arguello's dressing room, before taking me to his own dressing room. The first and only time I ever partied in an actual TV/movie actor's dressing room. That was a super good fun night!

When I was watching Carlos Palomino listen to the director (or whoever it was who he was listening to), I kept thinking to myself, "Wow! Even though he lost the decisions, he fought Wilfred Benitez and Roberto Duran back to back! What a bada$$! mfer!"

I didn't see the rivera fight so can't comment, but he most likely makes a top 50 greatest from Mexico. A very good fighter and a hall of famer, but not quite an ATG.

I think he should be MUCH higher than in top-50 Mexican fighters of all time. Top 20 definitely

Mexico has a LOT of great fighters. I am not sure he makes top 20, but probably top 30. His career was really short. He definitely had the talent for being greater.

More wins in WW lineal world title fights than either SRR or SRL, lineal champion at MW, a world title at LWM, wins over Dick Tiger x 2, Nino Benvenuti, LMR x 3, Benny Paret x 2, Joey Archer x 2, Gaspar Ortega, Florentino Fernandez and Jorge Fernanzez x 3 - Emile Griffith is unequivocally an ATG.

    Hi Buddy.
Not sure where I would rank him, obvs below the, JCC, Olivares, Sanchez, Canelo, Saldivar, Canto, and Zarates, of the Mexican lineage, but not all much lower, maybe around 10 to 15 ? not given it much thought, as a fighter he is one of my favs, not the boxer Benitez was, not the puncher Caevus was, not flash like Leonard, no tassles, no showboating, he was the consummate pro, always in great shape, he looked like he would be better suited fighting last century in the fights to the finish, his fighting dna was unhurried, he liked to take a few rounds to size up his opponent, he punched sparingly at times, probing for a weakness, he possess great chin, up with the best of the division, even the heaviest of shots only stunned him for a second, when in full flow, he was a formidable adversary, his jab was accurate and hurtful, but it was his body punching that reaped the rewards, not thrown wide oh no, they were short and damaging, they didn't appear that hard from the safety of the crowd, but Dave Green has told me that after half a dozen rounds or so, you have trouble feeling and controlling your legs, such was their impact, so a ATG , no as posters have already said , but a bloody good fighter, yes !!
    Stay safe amigo, chat soon.

I can't comment on his ranking of all-time great Mexican fighters as I'm not familiar enough with all of them but I will say this. I wish I had his genes! I've seen numerous videos of him being interviewed and working out and he looks great for someone over 70 years old. Looks like he could still give some of the young guys a tough go of it.

He's a great fighter. Hard to say where I rank him against other Mexicans.

    That’s an absolutely terrible list.
