Going to keep this post pretty short.

The 'executive summary' of my thoughts is this -- The 'old guys' take it unless their ages (35+) have caught up with them.

: Kessler is longer and probably stronger, but he fights fairly 'straight-ahead' and with much less fluidity than does Calzaghe. I think Kessler has a better chance than does the guy I'm picking against in the other fight, but Joe is so much faster and can fight in a variety of styles. I could see JC getting caught and even dropped, but I don't think he will stay down even if he is sent to the canvas. Bottom line:

. If Kessler is trailing and really 'goes for it' in the later rounds though, I could see JC stopping him via TKO with a burst of unanswered punches. This should be a GREAT fight. Kessler has to stay disciplined and continuously fire his jab to stay competitive, IMO.

: The only things I see here which favor Cotto at all are SSM's age and Cotto's relentlessness. Mosley is taller, longer, stronger, faster and just all-around better. Mosley also has a superior chin.

Cotto's only chance is to work like hell and outhustle Mosley for all 12 rounds and hope SSM fades. Cotto, as we know, does have the style to execute that gameplan. But I don't see it happening. I think at some point the larger Mosley catches Cotto and hurts him badly. Once SSM 'blunts' Cotto's aggression by stunning him and making Cotto concerned about his power, I think it will only be a matter of time before Cotto is either KO'd or TKO'd. Bottom line:

    . Should be a barnburner!

    Good deal, man!

I'm not the biggest Cotto fan in the world; I think he's somewhat overrated. I do, however, really like Kessler. I just think that he's fighting one of the all-time greats, in his home country, who feels like he has a lot to prove (like the Lacy fight).

These should be 2 very exciting fights, though. Can't wait! And tonight is Povetkin-Byrd as an appetizer!

Shane is freakishly strong, and always has been. Now that doesn't always translate in the ring, but when he is also taller and longer than is Cotto, it should definitely translate.

Shane is 36, but he seems to be in excellent condition. If he is anything close to his best, this fight is going to be a huge eye-opener to those who are picking Cotto, IMO.
