2 years ago today, an old past it fighter stepped into another fighters promoters back garden and unleashed an uppercut which put him to sleep before he hit the canvas. Lovely stuff.
Peach of a shot. It would've knocked out a horse. In fairness to Whyte, he could've sat on his laurels as mandatory - like many do - and either not fight at all or take an easy touch against some no mark. Yet he didn't. It backfired without a shadow of a doubt but it made for a rematch with a good build up where he splattered him to right the wrong.
Got 2 PPV paydays out of it and still got a shot at the belt in another PPV im sure Whyte wont care he got KO'ed. Thing of beauty that shot though probably my favourite KO of all time.
The rematch was an absolute sham, there's shot and then there's Covid shot, Povetkin just turned up for the pay, he couldn't even move properly.
I have it on good authority (Hearn told me) that he was up at 8, so how could he have been put to sleep? In all seriousness, it's my fave KO of all time that I have watched live. Beautiful and brutal in equal measure.
I can categorically confirm that the canvas, with Whyte still embedded in it, was up in the air at 8 on the Monday morning.
How funny was fight camp. Spent a million quid to fook his garden up and watch Whyte get spannered but the fireworks were a lovely touch.
