I am willing to make that change! From now on guessing a boxer will count as a question so please use your guesses wisely! When round 3 starts I'll hopefully include a reminder about that.

Wait when you say title… you mean just a belt qualifies? He isn’t “the man” F!!!!

I really liked the answers you had, I could’ve potentially got them and I’m borderline casual so I’d say it’s a nice enough mix for the mouth breathers like me to play alongside posters like @Saintpat who know there S I’d like it if @Seamus got in on this and @mcvey but I’d also wanna eventually wind up on the leader board LOL.

I think your picks are right on — if you’re going to go with well-known ATGs, probably it gets too easy. If you go too obscure (someone who never fought for a title and was maybe a fringe contender) it’s not much of a fun game because we’re just throwing darts in the dark.

Keep moving around your eras/weight classes/places of origin (although having multiple guys from the U.S. would be OK because there’s a higher number of possibles) so we can’t just zero in your ‘preferences’ or a pattern that might emerge.

I hope you’ll keep up the game. It’s a fun twist to our usual posts.

    Bravo on your winning round.

I’d be leery about making guesses count because we only get 20 questions and if six or seven people guess (or some poster guesses multiple times) then we’re going to end up not getting enough guesses to have a chance. Yes, we do benefit from scratching off a possible guess (if I guess ‘Thomas Hearns’ and it’s not him, nobody else need guess him so he is eliminated) but I’m not sure that’s as valuable as getting a broader question like the ones we have been seeing.

Likewise, just my 2 cents. I think there’s merit to either approach.

What if there was a separate guess limit along with the question limit? I'm not sure how high it would be maybe 10 or 15? That could be making things too complex. I'm willing to try making the gusses count towards the question count for a round and if people don't like it we can try another solution or go back to the old method.

    That’s fair.

I would suggest this stipulation: Each poster only gets one guess per ‘round’ (as in each boxer you do this for is a round) and then they have to sit it out until the next round. I think it would ruin it if someone just decides to rapid-fire guesses.

Ooh that's also a good idea. My only problem with that idea is that it might cause a scenario where everyone is too scared to guess.

@Rubber Glove Sandwich mentioned on last page that after all 20 questions are already asked - He'll still give us 5 guesses, so I sort of had that in mind - but I like Your suggestion of 1 free guess per round per person even more. It would add a nice little strategic aspect to it, where on one hand You don't want to set up other person to win with Your question, but on the other hand You have only one shot so have to aim carefully ).

I would also like to give a really obscure boxer a try at one point as an experiment. Curious if We'd stand a chance.

Round 3 has officially started. For this round I will be using @Saintpat's suggestion of one guess per poster. When someone guesses I will make sure to confirm with them if they wanna use their only guess. If you have any questions regarding the rules feel free to ask. The original rules of only picking someone who was a professional gloved boxer and world champion of some kind still stand.

    Question 0/20

    Current information:
    None yet.

Part of the strategy is also when to shoot your arrow … if you wait too long, someone else migh beat you to it; but if you have it down to say 2-3 good guesses, maybe you want to ask one more question to eliminate one or two of those you are still considering.

Once it hit me that Sugar Rojas was still ‘alive’ since he was Cuban rather than Mexican (duh), I almost asked if the boxer was Cuban … but went ahead with my guess because if the answer was yes it might tip off others who could respond before I did.

    Makes for a lively game.

Is your boxer an alien this time?

(If so, my guess is Bernard Hopkins.)

I might need to find a world champion from some place named after a planet like Venus, Texas or Jupiter, Florida.

So who wants to take the first stab at a real question?
