@Rubber Glove Sandwich for instance, I had a hunch on Wallace “Bud” Smith for quite a while but then did some research and realized he was an Olympian. I had never thought to ask that before but for some reason did this time — had I not asked that one question on a whim, I’d have guessed him and been wrong.

Beau was similar, I gather, to Henry Armstrong — obviously not as good over as many weight classes, but a tireless and super gutty swarmer.

I think there’s a story that Frank Sinatra saw him shining shoes for a living long after his boxing career and did something to take care of him because he respected him so much as a fighter, but I forget the details.

Yeah I'm totally fine with giving away some stuff for the sake of clarification. My main concern is accidentally making the game impossible because I goof a question. The mostly likely culprits being subjective questions and geography questions. I double check those via google but I wouldn't be surprised if I mess one up eventually. It's just not my strong suit.

Q1 R6: Is your boxer in the International Boxing Hall of Fame IBHOF?
Q2: Has your boxer fought against another member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame I IBHOF?
Q3: Did your boxer fought before The Ring started doing the annual Top 10 Ratings?

If someone asks a subjective question, you’ve been clear to say ‘in my judgment’ (as in whether someone is an ATG) and it’s really on the questioner. I probably over-explain some of my questions for clarity.

If you say your boxer is lightweight or lower and he’s a light heavyweight, that’s where everyone gets run off the road, haha. I have to look up some places to see what hemisphere they’re in or whether they’re considered to be Europe or North America and such.

Just be up front if you’re asked if the boxer is from planet earth or not. Or say ‘possibly’ if it’s Roy Jones Jr since he may be from Krypton.

Let me jump in here hopefully before @Rubber Glove Sandwich answers this one and see if we need to sidestep it.

Afaik, The Ring has never done annual ratings.

What we consider to be the annual ratings are the ones considering results through the end of the year, but they’re just monthly ratings. Usually those came out in the March or even April issue of The Ring (with results through December of the previous year) because there’s a publishing lag for magazines between when they are assembled and when they hit the stands.

So what you’re really asking is since The Ring started doing monthly ratings. If that works for your question, that’s fine. But, again, afaik they have never published ‘here are our ratings for the entirety of 1977’ or whatever. It’s all a snapshot in time, and someone could have been rated for 11 months and then had a loss that knocked them out of the final ratings for that year.

(If I’m wrong on this and The Ring actually has done ratings that are supposed to encompass the entire year at any point in the mag’s history, please set me straight.)

    Question 1/20

No my boxer is not in the international boxing hall of fame

    Question 2/20

No my boxer did not fight someone who is a member of the international boxing hall of fame

    https://boxrec.com/wiki/index.php/The_Ring_Magazine's_Annual_Ratings

When you last asked a question like this I used this list. Is this the correct list?

    Question 3/20

My boxer did not fought before the ring started their rankings aka my boxer did not fight before February 1925

I'm not saying that this is a borderline case scenario I'm just doing this to be absolutely sure for future rounds, Which countries count as european? Feel free to make fun of me for being too American.

    Question 4/20

Yes my boxer did fight in a match televised in color.

    Current information:
    1. My boxer is not in the hall of fame
    2. My boxer did not fight someone in the hall of fame
    3. My boxer did not fight before 1925
    4. My boxer did fight in a match televised in color.

Let’s go with the UN definition: https://www.worldometers.info/geography/how-many-countries-in-europe/ (this lists the 44 the UN considers to be European).

For future reference, or possibly for this boxer, anyone from a country now considered to be part of Europe that wasn’t at the time the boxer was born should be considered to be from Europe (so you don’t have to look up models from previous eras, but you should explain the disclaimer whenever this comes up) — so someone from Croatia when it was part of Yugoslavia would be considered European.

(Feel free to do this however you wish, that’s just my suggestion.)

@Rubber Glove Sandwich I don’t think this should count as a question but we all need to understand the starting point and parameters so there’s no gotcha — for the previous rounds you stated the boxer is a former world champion but did not say so at the start of this round … are we to assume all your boxers were world champs or only if you say so up front?

Good question! Yes my boxer is a former and/or current world champion. I decided not to say it because I thought it was well established but I understand the concern. I will try to be more clear. I think I remember a poster saying that they would like to see a sort of "hard mode" version. I will make it clear that I am doing that when the round starts. Maybe I'll save that for round 15.
