20 Worst Heavyweight Champions of the 20th Century

John Ruiz was the worst of the last 20 years and yet people still think how great Roy Jones was for beating him.

Jess Willard should be NOT be on that list, he knocked out a prime Jack Johnson to win the World Championship-he was by all accounts quite skilled for someone his size (6'6 1/2 and 250 pounds).

Didn't Johnson take a dive against Willard? There is that pic of him chilling on his back shading his eyes from the sun? Or was that just Johnson BS?

I have to vent, god Bruno was awful! Jesus I remember sitting through some of his horrible fights and thinking how stiff and awkward he was. So predictable and dull....nice guy but he was so hyped and when he was flattened by Witherspoon it all seemed so tragic...I don't think there are many fighters who better show how alphabet titles make fringe contenders champions....The fact he hit Tyson with one decent shot does not make him a hero, it's like saying Burt Cooper is great for wobbling Holyfield...End of rant...

Actually scratch that, I remember when the bleeding WBO were recognising Francesco Damiani as champ while Tyson was aslo champ, god what a joke!

John Ruiz would have dominated any stage of the heavyweight division up to Joe Louis. Fact.

 

While i've been unsuccessfully trying to make Seamus my arch rival, ala McVey-Mendoza, I have to agree a little. if there is a modern boxer who was made for clinch filled 20 rounders, its Ruiz.

 

Anybody who knows Yoknapatawpha County and flaunts this knowledge can never be my enemy.

Douglas isn't that bad... just incosistent.

Like Lewis he was lazy but unlike Lewis he always was lazy. (Except against Tyson he fought a wonderful fight, and he deserved the title)
