    George Foreman vs Axel Schulz

    [yt]BLoLtI5yFzk[/yt]

    Foreman was a 6 to 1 favorite.
Foreman made $10 million. Schulz got $350,000.
Foreman landed 249 of 543 punches. Schulz landed 229 of 482.

In 2000, at former IBF president Bob Lee's racketeering trial, promoter Bob Arum testified that he agreed to pay $200,000 for the IBF to grant a special exemption to approve a title fight between Foreman and the unranked Schulz. $100,000 would be paid before the fight, and the other $100,000 would be paid after the fight. Arum said that he made the pre-fight payment but refused to make the post-fight payment after learning that Foreman had paid $250,000 to another IBF official. According to prosecutors, after Foreman won by a controversial decision, promoter Cedric Kushner paid the IBF to mandate a rematch. Foreman refused the rematch and vacated the IBF title.

I remember watching that robbery. George even put on sunglasses to hide his shame in this absolute sham of a decision :deal

    WTF? :admin

Foreman made $350,000. Schulz got $10 million.

But seriously. I haven't seen it for years but I remember feeling at the time that Schulz deserved the nod.

Schulz won that fight. Clearly was robbed. I remember the New York Daily News back page the next morning with headline Axel Grease. The play on Sculz's first name and the fact he was robbed. Boxing rarely gets any coverage now from mainstream papers Like it did back then but it will May 2nd.
Schulz got robbed against Botha in his next fight but it was overturned and ruled a no contest when Botha tested positive for anabolic steroids.
In his next fight with Michael Moorer I felt Schulz lost 7-5 but admittedly it was close and I haven't seen the fight since it aired live nearly 20 yrs ago.

Schutlz should have been the 2 time IBF champion. He was the 90's Mauricio Herrera... not enough punching power to take it out of the crooked homescoring judges' hands.

Um, Klitschko busted up and TKO'd Shultz in 1999, just four years after Shultz was shafted in the Foreman fight. By the way Foreman didn't give a re-match and was stripped by the IBF because of it.
