This would have been one badass fight! I have to go with Pavlik late round stoppage.... with every round being tough, rugged, and with lacy winning his fair shair... but his defence imo is too lacking for how he fights (squared and in your face) for pavlik... pavlik is actually bigger structer wise... and i think towards the 8th, 9th, 10th rounds... those right hands start to really find a home, and in the 11th or 12th ref has to stop the fight... I wouldnt be suprised if Lacy put Pavlik down ala Taylor... but imo Pav gets back up to win. Great fight
Prety much what I'm thinking. Either Lacy wears Kelly down and clocks him out late, or Pavlik survives the onslaught and keeps Lacy at bay with his longer arms and particularly with that long well schooled jab of his and gets a close decision victory. Though today's version of Lacy get KOed late for sure.
lacy would have been able to strike off with the hook and cause some good damage but lacy's defence was not the best so he would have been eating the jab all night. it would have been a war and i do not think it would reach the final bell but i would put my money on left hook
If they had a poll catagory for decimation I would have picked that. If Lacy thought Calzaghe hit hard, then Pavlik won't let him see the 12th round.
Pavlik would KO him after about 5 or 6 rounds of brutal beat down. Lacy probably wasn't as bad as he looked against Calzaghe, who is a great fighter, but wasn't really that great either, as he has shown since. Taylor would also have dominated Lacy.
Pavlik is the better boxer. And if he continues to improve, I expect he will eventually surpass the 2005 Lacy. But as things stand, I see Lacy winning this one in devastating fashion in the first three rounds. The 2005 Lacy had not yet been broken, in spirit and confidence, by Calzaghe. And he hit much harder than Taylor, who nearly ended things for Kelly in their first fight.
Hmm... Not sure. That might have been a local news cast. I know it was something I saw, not read. I don't remember seeing any footage of him on the net, like a 'build up' pre fight show on HBO.
