Could Wlad use his size and boxing skills to nullify the power of the big bear?

What worries me for Wlad in this fight is his chin, while not bad, wasn't made of steel either. On the other hand, correct me if I'm wrong, I can't think of any SHW sized opponents Liston's power was proven against. And I want to qualify this by saying that just because he may not have knocked out a SHW sized opponent (due to never being matched with one) doesn't mean he couldn't and I do think Liston could hurt a SHW sized fighter.

IMO Wlad is way too technical for a guy like Liston, and while it's true that Wlad's chin isn't steel, he protects it well. Liston himself was destroyed twice by light -hitting Ali. Wlad's bombs will open up whole new vistas of pain for him. I think Wlad does too many things well for Liston to cope with.

Theres little chanceof getting wlad K in the ring with someone like Liston, hes nows it will end in tears early, very fast.

Wlad has acres more longevity and smarts than Liston, but demanding H2H is some kind of bad joke.

Wlad around 05 had just lost to Brewster I think it's conceivable that Sonny could duplicate that performance and win. However, Wlad's technical ability was superior as was his size and hand speed so at his best he defeats Sonny more often than not.

Wlad Klitschko is too fragile to beat Sonny Liston.
Liston KO early to mid rounds.

Liston could struggle a little in this with the size and weight disadvantage for a few rounds. But I see Sonny mid fight catching wlad suddenly , and having him on Bambi legs. Your in trouble once your hurt against Liston , and wlad would hit the deck .He wouldn't recover and be stopped by the ref shortly after .But Sonny's face may well show signs of battle.

I am by no means a Liston fan but if you get barely by absolute shid skill cave man Sam Peter who had WK on the brink of defeat several times he aint beating Liston.

Watch WK/Peter, turn the sound off and insert prime Liston/Tyson/Bowe etc instead of Peter in there and even the biggest WK bootlicker will realize that WK is not seeing the distance, fact not fiction.

For reference, Brewster was nothing more than a face first punch bag with a chin and a punch with a very linited set of skills and he simply walked WK down.

WK will collapse against ANY modern Elite if they make him fight willing to take a punch to land one, he is not a natural fighter, he is a Athlete.

I don’t get this thinking that Wlad would be too technical for Liston.
In my opinion Liston was a much more rounded fighter, he had a wider array of skills than Wlad.
He could certainly match or better Wlad’s jab, had power in the right hand and threw a devastating left hook, good upper body and head movement, and unlike Wlad had an inside game.
If Sonny were to win the battle of the jabs then I think he walks all over the intimidated and terrified to be hit Wlad and takes him out fairly routinely.

Vlad would stop Sonny before the 9-10th rd in a dominating fight

As has been mentioned, Wlad had some bad moments in 2005 with Sam Peter. He was also decked by DeVaryl Williamson around this time.

    Prime Liston should win this.

But Ali was much lighter (weight wise) than Wlad, which probably contributed to him being more mobile and faster on his feet than Wlad. On the other hand, Wlad did protect his chin well in general and hit significantly harder than Ali.

I think it depends on which version of Vlad enters the ring, I am assuming prime vs prime, a prime Vlad could dominate but probaly not without some anxious moments

Liston finds Wlads chin mid fight and it's over.
Liston wasn't lacking in reach or power and I find his skills to be technically sound. As I've stated befor the man looks awesme on film

Wlad never lost to a fighter under 235lbs. Liston was 212. So Liston is giving away 23 pounds and Liston is also giving up 5 inches in height too. It's not all about the measurables Liston was a damn good fighter and had reach but Wlad is stronger and faster with a better amateur pedigree. I'll go with the guy who proved he could take out 6'5 240 + pound fighters in a good match
