I've been toying with a concept for a Heavyweight unification tournament based loosely on the WBSS, set during 2006. 8 boxers, straight knockout format.

I've included the four titleholder (as of January 2006) plus four of the highest ranked contenders by Ring.

    Chris Byrd
    Hasim Rahman
    Lamon Brewster
    John Ruiz
    Calvin Brock
    Wladimir Klitschko
    Samuel Peter
    Nikolai Valuev

    Reserves:
    Monte Barrett
    Larry Donald
    Oleg Maskaev
    David Tua

Of the 2005 Ring top 10, I excluded James Toney and Monte Barrett,Toney because of his failed drug test the previous year left him unable to contest the WBA belt and Barrett as I would imagine the organizers would prefer having a knockout specialist like Peter rather than Barrett.

    Round 1:
Hasim Rahman (WBC) vs. Calvin Brock
Lamon Brewster (WBO) vs. Wladimir Klitschko
Chris Byrd (IBF) vs. Samuel Peter
Nikolai Valuev (WBA) vs. John Ruiz

What do you guys think of this idea, what do you make of the opening match ups and who do you think would win the whole thing.
