Pavlik is criminally underrated on this board and is better than any name on GGG's resume, as is Jermain Taylor. Pavlik had a chin that walked through a prime Miranda and beat him to the ground. I wish I could post a gif of Pavlik changing the trajectory of a punch mid-arc to land flush on Miranda's chin. That's a tool that I have never seen in GGG's kit. This would be a hell of a fight, though. One of the better fantasy matchups.
I'm watching Pavlik - Taylor I. Golovkin would eat some jabs and straight rights but would have counter opportunities with his murderous uppercuts. Pavlik wouldn't survive that 2nd rd vs GGG.
I can certainly appreciate this perspective. Not much wrong with it at all. Pavlik and Taylor were badasses.
Pavlik was dropped and BADLY hurt by a club fighter with a pitiful 20% KO percentage. Golovkin>>>Pavlik Golovkin dropped and stopped a fighter in 2 rounds with a single left hand that Pavlik couldn't even floor in 9 rounds of action despite hitting them with everything bar the kitchen sink. Golovkin x2>>>Pavlik Golovkin stopped a bald fighter called ''The Ghost'' who was also a dead ringer for Pavlik, whereas Pavlik has never once beaten a ''GGG'' and has been dropped and beaten by every fighter he has faced who's names feature more than one G in them. Golovkin x3>>>Pavlik Tyrell Hendrix said that Golovkin hits harder than Edison Miranda and he's obviously much better than him at everything else too, sans eating cats. Golovkin x4>>>Pavlik Martin Murray beat Sergio Martinez in very hostile territory over in Argentina, Pavlik got his ass paddled raw by Sergio in his homeland of USA. If Golovkin beats Murray tomorrow night Golovkin x5>>>Pavlik Sergio wouldn't even dream of stepping into a ring with Golovkin but he jumped at the chance to face Pavlik. Golovkin x6>>>Pavlik Sergio's promoter Lucifer Dibella was absolutely terrified of the notion of putting his boy in there against Golovkin. Golovkin x7>>>Pavlik I actually like Pavlik and do feel that he is sold short by many these days. However, I'm basing my prediction of a Golovkin win via KO over him off of using pure logic, reason and science, not mere opinion and emotion. And the conclusions I have come to via this method are clearly utterly irrefutable. :deal
And you would be wise not to as it's totally airtight. To be fair to Pavlik the letter G does actually feature twice in the name of one of his victims (Miguel Angel Espino) but he only has a paltry 37.5 KO%. To counter that, though, the letter G features in both the name of Golovkin's home city (Karagandy), once a piece in the name of the city and country he currently calls home (Hamburg, Germany), once in the nickname of the city that he trains in the US and is about to move to permanently ('The Golden State' - California), and it also features twice in Gennady's other two nicknames as well ('The God of War' and 'Golden Boy'). So by my estimation that's nine G's, or GGG x 3. GGG x 1 is practically unbeatable, let alone x 3. So basically Pavlik is f*cked no matter how you slice it :deal
Pavlik was one tough SOB before he drank away his prime but it wouldn't work in his favour, he'd take a career ending beating from GGG, taking a ton of hard body and head shots GGG is levels above Pavlik in skills, footwork, cutting off the ring, has power to match Kelly, and has just as granite a chin all in all, the fans would win :good:
I wasn't speaking to the topic of who's nuts you are or aren't hugging. I was simply saying you were wrong about Pavlik's jab posing any issue for GGG. Golovkin is one of the best jab counterers out there. He's one of the few who counter WITH his opponent's jab, meaning he punches with his opponent and simultaneously parries or slips as he's landing his own shot. This technique uses an opponent's weight against them and also has them give up reach because the opponent is moving into GGG at the same time GGG is moving into the opponent. There is little to no time to avoid this type of counter. It's not like a catch and shoot or a roll and shoot where you try to counter at the reset of your opponent's punch. This is elite-level technique and eyes from Golovkin, and Pavlik would eat those counters until he was forced to give up the jab. Pavlik would only have a puncher's chance in this fight, and it seems most people agree in the poll. Make no mistake, there is a wide skill gap between Pavlik and Golovkin.
