That's exactly what you said about Wlad vs Fury. Vitali couldn't touch a 50% lesser Fury in Chris Byrd and got stopped by Lewis who was producing the worst performance of his whole career.
It would be a tactical battle early on; Vitali finding it hard to pin Fury down and Fury being cautious of letting his hands go as unlike Wlad, Vitali actually throws counters. However, Vitali would start taking risks as he will throw at a moving target unlike Wlad. This will open him up to counters by Fury, but it will also start to open Fury up. Whilst Fury's height and reach will give Vitali problems and make him not be as elusive as he usually is, he would eventually start to time Fury coming in as Fury can still be open and a bit clumsy when on the attack. Vitali's advantage in power and toughness down the stretch would come into play and he either stops Fury late who wins a UD. Fury did great to beat Wlad, but he still has a lot to prove before i would pick him to beat a prime Vitali. His ability to go the long haul in a tough fight against a world class opponent is still up for question. Lets not forget, he didn't beat Wlad in a back and forth fight. He didn't even beat Wlad up. He just beat him in a technical match up. There is nothing wrong with that, Mayweather often does it. I just don't think Tyson has the ability to outclass Vitali for 12 rounds without it getting into a dogfight at some point. Also, Tyson's new backfoot, lots of movement style has worked great against Wlad, Chisora and Hammer. However, he hasn't shown that he is as good coming forward. Before he adopted this new style full time, Fury often looked clumsy coming forward and open to counters. If he fought Vitali he couldn't back off all night long. Eventually he would have to stand his ground and initiate his own attacks and this is were his clumsy attacks could come unstuck against a man who can counter well in Vitali.
I don't think any heavyweight in history could beat Fury. He's just too good and unreal. Taller than everyone, longer reach, heavy and still faster than some LHWs. Honestly, Fury moves even faster than Abraham for example. He only lacks punching power, like savage power that Mike Tyson had. He would be immaculate if he had that power. He's still young though, he can develop the "old men's strength" once he turned 30.
This Fury would outjab Vitali more than he did Wladimir. Fury wins easy on cuts. My order in the jab game: Fury. Wlad. Lewis. Vitali. Fact: Vitali has no guard at all, it works against short fighters but not tall fighters with reach and speed. Re watch him against Lewis and then some other fights when he could come away with it.
Lewis cut sub prime Vitali by arm round the neck hit and hold cheating because he was being both out boxed and outclassed. I don't see Fury being able to do that. I do see him taking serious punishment only.
As for punching power goes, i'm not so sure that Vitali were any greater at all. I'll give him the straight right due, but then it's pretty even.
