One of the best since I've been following the sport (which, admittedly, hasn't been that long). You've got Margarito beating the odds to take down Cotto, to finally become the man at welterweight. Hopkins beating the odds to UD the much younger Kelly Pavlik to prove he's still a force in the sport despite his age, and a true all time great. Paquioa shoving expectations into the asses of much of the boxing community by dominating De La Hoya when many thought him winning at all was a laughable notion. Also, Marquez and Vasquez wrapping up their epic trilogy, JMM becoming the first man to stop Casamayor, Vitali Klitschko coming out of a four year retirment to win a belt right off the bat. A lot of drama, a lot of upsets, a lot of great fights, a lot of history to go down in the books. Great, great ****ing year of boxing.
I agree. This has been a good year for boxing. Boxing is a great sport. Our main problem is the best fighters have to be willing to risk something. They have to meet each other in the ring. 2008 was the year of the risk takers. Bernard Hopkins, Vitlai Kltischko, Manny Pacquao were up to the challenge.
