Pavlik is a walking W for someone - only a matter of time trust me. Power can only get you so far, especially for a fighter so one dimensional. His best two wins are against Taylor, who arguably lost to Hopkins twice and to Wright (certainly) and he has been matched very carefully. Blasting out the Gary Lockett's of this world means **** all. I would back Hopkins to give him nightmares and pinch a close but clear UD or late stoppage - Pavlik isn't exactly granite chinned, and his power will be taken out of the equation by Hopkins's defence and chin.
your forgetting miranda and green, both touted as potentially the best, totally schooled by pavlik. you do the man a diservice, he hits very hard, is very accurate, does not waste shots and whilst he has gone down he has always got up to win.
Pavlik hasn't fought Green, Miranda did, and Miranda is not very good. Abraham has beaten him twice too, I thought that should have put him into perspective. The only other notable wins on Pavlik's resume are Zertuche and Zuniga, both are pretty much nobodies at championship level.
Jeff take soilice in the fact one of the worst fighters techinically, Daniel Ponce de Leon, got knocked out in one this year.
This is what p4p contenders fight like [yt]Ri79kI2Cw_s[/yt] [yt]EvOopsbF134[/yt] [yt]HcgX5VdTZG4[/yt] [yt]yjTHLPmfBCQ[/yt] [yt]kd8G0C1I9lE&feature=related[/yt] [yt]MypQstRXO_s[/yt] [yt]OMWktDHd4Bc[/yt] [yt]Zo6f6C9ztPM[/yt] [yt]CslPeE4TqFs[/yt] [YT]bJGzq5g63MQ[/YT] This era is not a great one.... Lets get some style back.
I thought Cotto would become the next p4p #1 I must admit. I'm not writing him off completely, skillwise he has in in him, but his stamina/size/work-rate is not great at welterweight. I'm on the Gamboa train now.
Totally agree..... Cotto and Diaz are p4p te best fighters in the world but they have key weaknesses that can be exploited.
Juan Diaz? :think He's just way too flawed in many departments. He throws a lot of punches, but he's not hugely skilled, and lacks the power and defence of Cotto. He can still do something at lightweight, but there are a lot of tough fights for him there stylistically. He might not look good against counterpunchers like Marquez/Guzman. Gamboa is the only one that I see with the X factor to make the next long term #1. He's really amazing physically and offensively.
:good Very True, but it is them weaknesses which make them exciting. In terms of margarito now does he push a fight with oscar or try to unify the division.
I love Juan Diaz style...... Awesome.... i've def got my biased blinkers on when it comes to baby bull.
