Molitor would beat Juan Manuel Lopez

DPDL was schooled on the undercard of Hatton vs Mayweather and received a gift UD.

Why? You think Calzaghe is as talented as any one of those guys in the youtube clips?

    He's more "talented" than Trinidad.

Debatable. Trinidad showed us the talent he had by doing more than just talking about moving through divisions. I remember Calzaghe talking about fighting at cruiserweight once.

    That would be absurd.

Trinidad isn't that "talented" in pure boxing terms. Great overall, but it was more down to explosive power and physical attributes as much as talent. He didn't have Calzaghe's jab, movement or adaptability and it was shown up a number of times. He's not a greater boxer than Calzaghe, a greater overall fighter? One to debate.

He's the weakest on that list for sure.

    His words.

He's defintely greater overall. Look at his resume, the people he took on. It's a fabulous slate.

    No I don't in fact.

But I think what you're overlooking when you talk about "style" is the opponent. I think he knows what he has to do to win more than most of those guys given the circumstances.

Just as an example, I read somewhere that Margarito said that he questioned Cotto's chin and knew he could wear him down eventually. It doesn't matter how pretty Cotto looked for 4 rounds, 5 rounds, 10 rounds - he lost the fight by getting worn down. Margarito was the better of the two over 12 rounds regardless of boxing "style" or p4p material.

I enjoyed what Cotto was doing for long periods of that fight, I was impressed. But **** me, as good as he was doing his thing - it simply wasn't good enough because the guy in the other corner could walk through his shots until he caught up with him.

Talent is different from achievement though. To me, Trinidad is the least talented of that list of fighters, but makes up for it in other areas.

Agreed. Did you never hear that interview with Joe talking about cruiserweight? He also regularly used to say "I move like a featherweight & punch like a cruiserweight".

This was probably back when he was actually considered a puncher of sorts

I never heard him talk about cruiserweight, but it would obviously be a silly, but it wouldn't look quite as stupid if we were talking early in his career when he had the power to put Eubank on his ass. Now he'd have no chance, unless he fought Enzo Maccarinelli.

It wasn't as long ago as that. I think around the Johnson fight sort of time. He said "I wan't to be a two weight champ & maybe even three looking at cruiserweight".

Well, he achieved the first part. Everybody makes stupid ass claims, Kelly Pavlik and Chad Dawson are going one further, to heavyweight! :patsch

Dan-b are you saying Trinidad being less talented Is debatle because of the opposition logic. Frank boasted about DK offering a Tito fight to Joe once In 2004 after Vitali beat Williams since they were both In vegas.

He;s more talented than Chavez too who needed 80 fights before he stepped up and still got gift decisions, fights with heart and toughness mostly.

I'd have him above Floyd too, pot shotting and being bullied back on the ropes Is hardly more talented. I like him for beating Hatton the way he did though.

Weight jumping shouldn't be considered better than cleaning out your division, none of the guys In Jeff's really cleaned out, they weight jumped and won belts to make their resume look good.
