09 has been shithouse so far. The super six and the Pacquiao - Cotto fight among several others should help finish the year with a bang though.

to be honest I think boxing has been on the upside since 2005.....dana white likes to tell you differently.....but boxing has really had a upswing since 2005...

09 hasn't been anything to brag about nor did it separate itself from any other good year.

I wouldn't say shithouse, but I agree that the ending looks phenomenal!

  5. We need a union for boxing. Where all this can be collected and promoted into the mainstream as one.

I mean, Looking at those fights. This year has been megafight year for boxing, those fights are far better than UFC yet the population don't even really know whats happened.

wtf? big year as in how? in comparison to 07 and 08. 2009 was the year of "what could have been" or the year of injuries, cancellations, and excuses.

You have some in there that a) haven't happened yet (i.e. could be lousy); b) were big names, but weren't necessarily good fights.

I had 2007 in my head as good and put together this list, which are all very good fights (and mostly pretty big names):

Jermain Taylor vs. Kelly Pavlik I
    Joe Calzaghe vs. Mikkel Kessler
Oscar De La Hoya vs. Floyd Mayweather (not exciting, but still very good boxing and reasonably close)
    Miguel Cotto vs. Shane Mosley
    Floyd Mayweather vs. Ricky Hatton
    Barrera/Pacquiao
Sakio Bika TKO 8 Jaidon Codrington
Miguel Cotto TKO 11 Zab Judah
Israel Vazquez TKO 6 Rafael Marquez II
    Earl vs Katsidis
    Pavlik vs Miranda
    Williams vs Margarito

    I think 2007 takes it.
