    I've only been a hardcore boxing fan since Mayweather-DLH fight...But I've gotta think this 2009 year of boxing has to be the best (so far) since the 80s hearns, leonard, hagler, duran days. Agreed?

    Ortiz-Maidana saved 2009 as 2009 was turning out to be only so-so compared to 07 and 08.

    So far no Vazquez marquez or castillo corrales type of fight so no. Still the Cotto clotey and a few others had been good.

    Not even close!

    2007 and 2008 was better. By far.

    '07 had all the big fights, while '08 had all the big upsets. Compared to these two years, '09 has been completely lackluster.

    That means he's been a fan since '07. There's no way anyone can tell me this year's boxing action tops the last two years.

    When I think of boxing in 2009 one word comes to mind:

    Cancellations

    '07=big fights
    '08=big upsets

    I would say '09=good fights and exciting fights

    I'd take '09 (thus far) over '08 or '07 easily.

    Vasquez - Marquez trilogy not in 2009
    Castillo - Corrales I not in 2009
    Barrera - Morales trilogy not in 2009
    Ward - Gatti trilogy not in 2009
    etc.
    etc.
    etc.

    2009 has been an alright year really, but when you consider what you were expecting in January its been a major letdown.........so far (still big fights to come; its only June for ****s sake - too early to tell, but it would take some major barnburners to top the last two years).

    2010 looks to be promising so far if all goes well. It's the too many injuries postponing/canceling fights lately that ruined 09's chances.
