This division is heating up like crazy. Top10 Ring Magazine guys fighting each other left right and center.

Hatton (Champ) fighting Pacquiao (p4p#1 and #2 at LightWeight)

Urango (#9) just fought Ngoudjo (#5)

Hatton (Champ) recently fought Malignaggi (currently #4, #1 when they fought)

Kotelnik (#3) fighting Maidaina (#9) next week

Timothy Bradley (#1) vs Kendall Holt (#6) in april

So its definately on the up and up

Torres should fight Malignaggi too. Torres should be fighting soon he hasnt fought in a while. He would be having the unification with Bradley if he had not pulled out of the holt trilogy.

Usually if a guy is ranked top10 in ring mag then he is a legit challenge. I mean we can't be expected to know who every fighter is and even though i've heard of Maidaina, i've never seen him fight. Anyways Fightnews has him ranked at 6 and Ring Magazine at 9 so to me that is a somebody real. A worthy opponent

    Hmmmmm.

I take the points on this debate. It's certainly laden with great potential match ups, but its not exactly swimming with quality. Hatton is a clear number 1 and I think there is a big gap between he and the rest. Bradley looks decent, Holt and Torres are both exciting. You'll do well to find Kotelnik get himself into an actual fight.

There are plenty of competitive fights in the division, but I dont think there is anyone able to challenge Hatton yet.

Incidentally, I've completely discounted Pac for the same reason fleaman did on his thread (good round up by the way mate!), Pac is only around 140 for the Hatton fight. He'll chase the dollar again as soon as the fight is finished.

Yeah, no doubt we won't see Pac fighting the likes of Urango (who knows what would happen there) Holt (winnable fight for Manny) Bradley (haven't seen enough of him, but strong and fast, not TOO powerful though but snap in his punches) Witter :)lol:)

Manny will try and beat the TOP man at 140. If he can't (and if he loses to Hatton no doubt it will be in devastating fashion, though personally I think Manny will destroy Ricky) then he will....well, I don't know if he can bounce back from that. Maybe back down to 135 or have a 3rd fight with Marquez.

Either way, Hatton vs. Pacman....someone, if not both fighters, is getting their career shortened. If either man loses they will be hurt badly. Hatton I think will eat combos all night and get stopped on cuts.

If Hatton can get to Manny (if Ricky were to win on points he'd have to sutain an attack long enough that if Manny saw it through to the final bell his career would be shortened) and stop him....could Manny bounce back?

Personally I think Manny wins and Ricky then joins this group of 140 lbers and stops chasing super fights. Whether he will have enough left to compete with them I don't know.

But hypothetically, if Hatton were to dodge Pac or the fight didn't happen and we faced this crop....I think he would come out on top.

Ask me in a year though and it could be a different story :good

I'm edging towards Hatton on this one. Mainly due to the fight being at 140, but I said the same of Oscar prior to the Pac fight :patsch

Looking around this division though and outside of the main contenders, I do like the look of Victor Ortiz and think in twelve months time he could really be a world class operator!

JWW is a damn good division. However, as long as Ricky is the recognized champ, none of th other top JWWs will get a shot at that Ring Belt. Ricky is a big fight guy now. If he beats Pac, he'll go after guys like Marquez, Mayweather, or possibly even Mosley. I can't see him fighting guys like Holt, Bradley, Witter, or Kotelnik.

Well Witter will never happen I think that's safe to assume.

Bradley, depending on whether he can get a following in the next 12 months is a possibilty. If you think (as I do) that Hatton will beat Pac then there is only Marquez/Mayweather for Hatton. He wont fight a big WW and certainly wont fight Mosely and I wouldnt ask him to, ridiculous match up. But if he beats Pac and Floyd doesnt come back then I would fully expect a fight with JMM and then maybe a unification with Bradley who could clean up the division in the period in between. He could then offer all titles as an incentive for the fight? I'm pretty sure Ricky would like to end his career as 'undisputed champion'.

    Provided all goes to plan...
