Fight 1- Roy Jones Jr. vs Ezzard Charles
I'm liking Charles in this matchup. The weight is in favor of Charles and I think that would be the difference. Jones' skills would keep him in the fight and make it close, but I like Charles close 7-5 (12 round fight) or 8-7 or 9-6 (15 round fight) in that range because he is more skilled at that weight.

Fight 2- Evander Holyfield vs Rocky Marciano
Great war not a dull moment in this fight. Holyfield would do a great job early with his boxing skills, but I believe Rocky hurts him enough that Holyfield gets into a war that he shouldn't be getting into and If it's a 12 round fight I like Rocky Marciano by UD, but if it's a 15 round fight I think Rocky stops him in the 14th or 15th.

Fight 3- Bernard Hopkins vs Archie Moore
Kind of like the RJJ-Charles fight. This isn't Hopkins' weight and that isn't going to favor him. Plus, at this point he is 41 years old. His skills and smarts might keep it close, but I like Moore to win this one.

Fight 4- James Toney vs Jersey Joe Walcott
Again, Toney is past it here and this is way above his prime weight. Toney wouldn't throw enough to get knocked out and he wouldn't throw enough to win. Walcott doesn't like to lead either, but I'm sure he will as the fight progress. Walcott by a pretty wide UD.

Fight 5- Michael Spinks vs Floyd Patterson
Again, another advantage to the old school fighters. Patterson was the much better Heavyweight and I would give it to him by a wide UD or may'be late stoppage.

I suppose since this is my thread I should put forward my own thoughts:

Fight 1- Roy Jones Jr. vs Ezzard Charles

Down at 168, I would strongly fancy Jones to use his speed to outbox and defeat the Charles who lost to Bivins and Marshall. But up at this weight, I think the opposite result, I think Charles would be too strong, too wily, and he would ultimately pound out a UD with Jones on the backpedal for the last few rounds.

Fight 2- Evander Holyfield vs Rocky Marciano

Holyfield would win most of the early rounds by setting a good pace and firing out combinations, but as the fight wears on and Rocky starts to get closer, Evander would get drawn into a war and I see the ref waving it off after he gets dropped a second time.

Fight 3- Bernard Hopkins vs Archie Moore

I think I'll buck the trend on this one, and go with Hopkins edging a close decision. More than one person has remarked that Moore has seen everything that Hopkins could throw at him and more. Well, I'm not so sure that even the Mongoose's massive experience means he would necessarily outfight a Bernard Hopkins freshly liberated by jumping up in weight. Whether Moore had seen it all and bought the t-shirt or not, it doesn't change that Hopkins has a magnificent defence and an array of high level skills. I can see Hopkins drawing Moore onto him, spoiling when he needs to, and edging a close and rather dirty affair by landing quick counters to the head that catch the judges' eye. Moore would catch B-Hop cleanly at one point though, and Ageless's stunning power would be enough to keep Hopkins moving, thinking, firing off shots and smothering throughout.

Fight 4- James Toney vs Jersey Joe Walcott

For me, Toney's peak was at mw and smw. Although he turned in a truly sublime performance against Jirov that night and showed dynamite power in the KO of Robinson, I don't think he was as effective at cruiser. I feel it is a bit unfair to say that Toney's footwork would be his undoing in h2h's at his prime weights as I think his movement is underrated there, but up at cruiser against Walcott, I would have to say I think that would be the difference in a very very close contest. Walcott MD.

Fight 5- Michael Spinks vs Floyd Patterson

Spinks outboxes Floyd all ends up. Either a wide and convincing UD something in the region of 11-4, or even a late stoppage on accummulation.
