Jacobs is simply the victim of the prospect of the year curse. I warned everyone last year when I predicted Victor Ortiz will fall, and the next POTY will share his fate and everybody was lauging. 'Sure BigBone, have another drink buddy!' - and I had.

    That should have been one.

The problem with boxing is that these prospects lose one fight and it's supposedly over. This is one of the reasons judges make these BS decisions to protect undefeated fighters.

Dawson loses one fight and he's done. pss.

That's the sad truth. The value placed on an undefeated record is so high, that it effects nearly everything in boxing.

This is what is wrong with Boxing fans. :patsch

A bad loss doesn't take away past accomplishments, and it doesn't mean you can't come back and be great.

PW is still a great fighter. He's just a great fighter who got hit by a perfect punch, that he didn't see coming. It could happen to any fighter.

Take Wald for example. He was riding high, got knocked off his high horse, picked up the pieces and is now the most dominant HW out there.

The opposite situation would be Hatton. He was riding high, got knocked off his high horse, and couldn't put the pieces together. Hatton lacked the fortitude to channel frustration into something positive.

Also see: Mike Tyson, Fernando Vargas, Paul Spadafora, etc..the list goes on.

Aside from the phsyical demands of the sport, the mental focus and fire has to be inside to mount a successful comeback.

Kirkland is very overrated. Crude and easy to hit. He loses badly against Martinez, Dzindriuk, etc.

Cloud will lose as well. Hype.

Ward is legitimate and has the best chance of any American to have a long successful run; however, several threats at super middle can potentially derail him.

HBO's bias makes mu puke! Count the punches landed by Martinez and Williams, Martinez landed way more, but HBO's punch stat lied like Hell! I counted them in slow mo.
